Flora said nothing. She sat rigidly, hands clenched in her lap, eyes fixed on a point somewhere beyond him.

“Let go!” Savannah cried.

Something inside me snapped.
I tore him away from her and drove my fist into his jaw. He hit the sofa hard.
I turned to Savannah immediately. “Are you hurt, baby? ”
