Something inside me snapped.
I turned to Savannah, fury blazing through every nerve. “Why did you come here? ”

“I asked you a question,” I snapped. “Why are you here? We talked about this. Over and over. You wanted to come here then – I said no. I
was clear. Under no circumstances were you supposed to set foot in this place p>
She stared at me like I’d lost my mind.
“Your life was on the line! ” she shouted. “Your father showed up at the hospital and threatened to wipe out my entire family! You nearly
died! I passed out! He donated blood to save you and arranged your transfer here while I was unconscious! What the hell was I supposed
to do in that state p>
“Anything!” I roared. “Anything but walk into the lion’s den wide–eyed p>
Reese muttered, “Oh boy. Here we go again p>
She scoffed, pacing now, hands in her hair. “I can’t believe we’re having this argument p>

She spun on me, “What is wrong with you p>
“ What is wrong with you?” I shot back. “Do you have any idea how badly this could’ve gone? You’re pregnant. This house has buried
women in your condition. Dahlia died p>
“Stop!” she screamed, clapping her hands over her ears. “I don’t care! I don’t care about her! I don’t want to hear about that woman
anymore! I’m sick of hearing her name! We do not have the same fatel Stop comparing me to her p>
She was shaking now. Crying. Furious.

The room went deathly still.
