My fists slam against Isla’s door again and again as I yell out her name.
“Asher,” Victor calls, stopping my hands mid-air before I pound them again. “I don’t think she’s home p>
I exhale sharply, dragging my palms down my face. Maybe she headed to her office today or probably…

I pull out my phone and dial Isla’s number. Fear tears me apart when the call goes straight to voicemail.
I dial again, and I nearly scream in rage when it goes straight to voicemail once more.
what do I do? I don’t even know where that asshole Dom—I mean, Kai—lives.
“Asher p>
Victor’s voice snaps me back to my senses, fitting like the missing piece of a puzzle.
I whirl around to face him. “Victor, I hope you don’t crush my hopes right now, but I believe you know where this Kai guy lives p>
He nods. “Sure I do. It’s part of the job p>
I let out a deep sigh of relief. “Take me there p>
We hurry back to my car and climb in. I let Victor take the wheel while I settle into the passenger seat. The thought of calling Sandra and Ethan flashes through my mind, and without hesitation, I dial Sandra’s number first.
“Hey, baby boy,” she teases when she answers. “What’s up p>
“Sandra, I need you to listen to me. Isla’s boyfriend is not who we think he is. He’s a fraudster and a murderer p>
“What?!” I wince as her shout pierces my ear.
“Yes, Sandra. I have proof with me, but I don’t have time to show you now. I left Isla’s house and she wasn’t there. I’m guessing she’s at that bastard’s place—or is she with you p>
“No, Asher. And you’re right—she’s at Dominic’s. When I called her about an hour ago to invite her over, she said she was going to see him p>
“Shit!” I nearly slam my fist against the glove compartment.
I am fucking losing my mind.
“Sandra, I don’t know how we’re going to do this, but I’ll text you Kai’s home address right now p>
“Kai? Who the hell is Kai p>
“That’s the bastard’s real name. Please tell Ethan too. I’m heading to the motherfucker’s house right now p>
“Okay, Asher. Ethan and I are on our way p>

She ends the call, but not before I catch someone shouting “Fuck,” in the background. I’m sure it was Ethan.
Fuck Kai. I swear, if he ever lays a hand on Isla, I’ll rip his damn head from his fucking body.
Victor and I finally arrive at Kai’s house. We dash out of the car and race to the entrance.
The bastard lives in a luxurious bachelor’s pad. Impressive. At least he has some fucking taste.
Victor moves to pound on the glass door, but I stop him when I notice a folded piece of paper tucked behind the keypad of the smart doorbell.
I pull it out, unfold it, and curse when I see a scribbled five-digit number staring back at me.
I show Victor the paper.
“35018.” He scoffs. “this asshole loves playing games p>
Screw him and his games.
Victor snatches the paper from me and punches the number into the keypad. When he presses enter, the doorbell’s green light blinks. He shoves the paper into the back pocket of his jeans before sliding the door open.
We step inside, and I nearly recoil at the sight of dry, caked blood smeared across the floor in a thin, messy line leading toward the dining area.
I sprint ahead, Victor’s quick footsteps close behind me.
I freeze when I reach the dining room.
The table is covered with an array of dishes, an open half-filled bottle of red wine…
