Chapter 47
Stella nodded, though she only half-understood.
Jeremy didn’t stick around. After checking out her designs and feeling relieved, he said, “Alright, I’m heading out. Don’t push yourself too hard these next couple of days-rest up and be ready for all the chaos when you return.”
“I know, Jeremy.” Stella answered obediently.
After seeing him out, Stella was about to take a shower when her phone rang. It was Noreen. Stella didn’t even need to guess why.
She thought Noreen had finally stopped causing trouble after their last conversation, thinking she’d made herself clear, but now, here Noreen was again.
Stella glanced at the screen, locked her phone, and silenced it before heading to the bathroom. She had made up her mind -she wasn’t going to waste time on anyone who wasn’t worth it.
“I’m bending over backwards trying to reach her, and she dares to ignore my calls?” Noreen muttered angrily.
At the Lloyd family mansion, Noreen was nearly tearing her hair out. The competition was looming, and Stella still hadn’t sent over her designs.
If that was all, Noreen had planned to just ask for more designs when Stella and Ernest got divorced.
But things had changed. Today, Noreen found out Stella was about to start working as a designer for the famous Lumière Group in Seabrook, and Noreen was freaking out.
Others saw Stella as a useless housewife, just clinging to her husband and daughter. But Noreen knew exactly what Stella was truly capable of.
In the past seven years, Noreen had snatched up so many awards in countless competitions. She’d become a rising star in the jewelry business-all because she’d been using Stella’s designs the whole time.
If Stella really took the job at Lumière Group, she might not have time to keep making designs for Noreen. Even worse, Noreen’s secret could be exposed. That thought made her panic.
“Why don’t you just call her again?” Kourtney said, sitting beside her, calm as ever. “It’s evening now. Maybe she’s in the shower and didn’t hear your call.”
In Kourtney’s mind, Stella had never turned down a single request from their family. Even if she slipped up once or twice, she’d always make sure to make it up later-usually going the extra mile.
‘Mom’s got a point. Stella’s probably in the shower or busy with something-otherwise, who does she think she is, ignoring my call?’ Noreen thought.
Taking a deep breath, Noreen dialed again. No answer. She redialed, over and over, but after several failed attempts, Noreen realized-Stella was ignoring her on purpose. She wasn’t busy. She just didn’t want to pick up.
Noreen exploded, her anger boiling over. “That bitch! She’s been living off the Lloyd family, spending our money, and now she’s giving me attitude? Mom, you need to teach her a lesson.”
Watching her daughter’s temper flare, Kourtney peeled off her face mask and frowned. “Hold on, let me try calling her.”

Sitting nearby, Noreen smirked, “She won’t dare ignore you

Kourtney dialed Stella’s number again, but this time, after several attempts, Stella didn’t just ignore the call-she blocked Kourtney
Staring at the phone in disbelief, Kourtney’s eyes widened. “She actually blocked me?”
“Yeah, she blocked you,” Noreen sneered. “And if she’s bold enough to do that, imagine how she’ll treat you in the future. She won’t respect you anymore.”
“Call Ernest,” Kourtney said, clearly upset. “If he doesn’t make Stella explain herself, this won’t end here.”
Norcen wasted no time calling Ernest. When Ernest heard that Stella had blocked Kourtney’s number, he was a little surprised.
After a brief silence, Ernest replied calmly, “Let her be. It’s not like you were calling for anything important anyway.”
“Ernest!” Noreen blurted out, stunned. Ernest’s attitude made her feel like something was off.
“She blocked Mom and won’t answer me either. Aren’t you going to call her out and make her explain herself?” Noreen insisted, her frustration barely hidden.
“Explain what?” Ernest replied, sounding confused.
“I…” Noreen was at a loss for words. Unable to argue with him, she handed the phone over to Kourtney. The rightful source is.net
Kourtney took the phone and said firmly, “Ernest, you need to make Stella give me an explanation. Does she still see me as her mother-in-law at all?”
Kourtney didn’t even need Ernest to answer. Deep down, she already felt a nagging doubt.
Since Stella married into the Lloyd family, she’d been treated like an unpaid servant. At least the staff got paid. But Stella was basically treated like property, with no voice of her own.
Kourtney softened her tone slightly, “I’m not asking for much. But how can she disrespect me like this?”
“Exactly,” Noreen added. “We’ve given her everything. After all these years living off our family, what more could she possibly want?”
“Mom, she’s my wife now. Whatever belongs to me, obviously belongs to her too,” Ernest said, thinking back to the promise he made to Sebastian.
“Ernest!” Seeing him defend Stella, Noreen couldn’t hold back. “You’re taking Stella’s side! What about Sylvia? Have you even thought about how she’d feel if she heard you talking like this?”
“Enough!” Ernest’s voice turned icy. “I’m not taking her side. I’m just stating the facts.”
In the seven years, whenever anything related to Stella came up, he’d either ignored it or stayed neutral. He’d never taken sides.
“I get it,” Noreen muttered, giving up, not wanting to make him any angrier.
Kourtney, resigned, said, “Fine, if you’re busy, go ahead. Noreen and I won’t bother you anymore.”
Ernest simply replied with a low “yeah” and ended the call.

“Mom, are we really just going to let this slide?” Noreen pressed, unwilling to give up-her precious designs still weren’t in her grasp.
“What do you expect me to do?” Kourtney shot her a look. “Ernest’s in charge of everything now. If you’re not worried he’ll freeze your account, go ahead.”
Honestly, Kourtney couldn’t be bothered. Getting blocked by Stella wasn’t even a big deal. It was hardly worth making a fuss over. Next time, she would just have to scold Stella. That would put her in her place.
“Yeah, I got it,” Noreen replied with a sigh.
Faced with the threat of her credit cards getting frozen, Noreen lowered her head, not daring to mouth off anymore. But deep down, she wasn’t done. She was already planning to confront Stella herself.
