“Got it,” Jeremy nodded. “Go on.”
Stella continued, “For the center stone, I’m choosing a 5-carat, D-color, flawless white diamond, cut in the eight hearts and eight arrows style. The side stones will be 24 AA-grade moonstones.”
“You want to use its dynamic blue glow, right?” Jeremy asked.
“Exactly,” Stella nodded. “When the white diamond is paired with the moonstones and cut like I described, it will reflect a flowing light effect, like water waves, when sunlight hits it.”
“What about the metal?” Jeremy asked.
“Pt.Ti ultra-light alloy. I’ve calculated that the final weight will only be 18 grams,” Stella said.
“That’s really light,” Jeremy remarked.
“Light shouldn’t have any weight,” Stella said seriously.
Jeremy nodded in agreement and asked, “Anything else?”
This time, Stella didn’t give him any more answers. “I’ll take care of the rest myself once I’ve rested,” she said. Jeremy was just helping with the exterior design. For the hidden features and techniques, she’d be the one to decide.
“Alright, go get some rest,” Jeremy said, taking the sketches from her.
Stella reminded him of a few things, then headed off to his office.
“Ms. Spencer, if you need anything, just let me know. I’ll be outside making sure no one disturbs you,” Jeremy’s assistant said, already knowing she was heading to rest.
“Really appreciate it,” Stella replied with a smile. She opened the door, stepped inside, and, too tired to even freshen up, collapsed onto the soft bed. She fell asleep immediately
The assistant gently closed the door, standing watch dutifully outside.
Stella thought she’d finally manage to get some decent sleep, but less than three minutes after her head hit the pillow, that wretched phone ring shattered her peace.
It was Erica calling.
“Erica, if this is about going out, count me out-I’m exhausted…” Stella murmured, barely awake as she picked up.
Erica cut her off, her voice tense. “Stella, wake up. Something happened to Richard. Get over here, quick.”
“What?” Stella immediately sprang up. “What happened? Is Grandpa okay? Where is he now?”
“L…” Erica barely got a word in before the phone was snatched away.
Harvey’s familiar voice came on next. “Stella, if you’ve got things to handle, Erica and I can take care of this. Don’t let it throw off your plans.”
“Harvey?” Stella blurted out, totally shocked. “Wait, you and Erica? How did you two end up together?”
“I just bumped into him on the way. I heard your aunt calling to tell him something happened to Richard, so we’re rushing over right now,” Erica quickly cut in.

“I’m fine, just send me the address. I’m heading over now,” Stella said anxiously. Richard was in trouble, and no matter how important anything else was, she had to drop it. Family came first.
“Okay, here’s where you need to go,” Harvey said quickly and hung up.
Stella glanced at the address and rushed out.
“Ms. Spencer, is everything okay?” the assistant asked, looking puzzled.
Stella didn’t have time to explain. “Please tell Mr. Ford I have something urgent and I’m leaving now,” she said quickly before disappearing.
About half an hour later, Stella drove to the address Harvey gave her, but when she got out; there was no sign of them anywhere. Wondering what was going on, Stella was just about to call when her phone rang-it was Harvey.
“Did you just get here?” Harvey asked.
“Yeah, but where are you guys? I can’t find anyone,” Stella said, confusion written all over her face.
“We’re at the police station,” Harvey said.
“The police station?” Stella gasped, utterly shocked. Newest update provided by (.)net
“Just get over here. This isn’t something I can explain in a few words.” As if remembering something, Harvey added, “And brace yourself before you come in.”
“Brace myself?” Stella repeated, confused, but didn’t waste time and sped off to the police station.
It took Stella about ten more minutes to finally arrive. “Harvey, what’s going on?” Stella called out as she hurried up to him.
Harvey met her at the door, shaking his head with a wry smile. “Grandpa got into a fight with someone.”
“What?” Stella’s eyes widened in shock. “Is Grandpa okay? He’s not hurt, is he?”
“He’s fine,” Harvey reassured her, shaking his head. “You know he was in the military when he was younger. Even now, it’d take a few good men to take him down.”
“That’s true,” Stella nodded. She’d made sure Richard stayed fit for years. With all his muscle, even a few people wouldn’t stand a chance against him.
“So what about the other side?” Stella pressed, growing anxious. “Why did things even escalate in the first place?”
Ex-soldiers like Richard could have a temper, but he wasn’t the type to pick fights unless he couldn’t stand something.
Harvey hesitated, clearly struggling for words. “It’s complicated and it involves you, Stella. Just come with me to the mediation room.”
“Okay,” Stella said, nodding and following him.
Inside the mediation room, an officer sat at the head of the table, looking exhausted. To his left were Richard and Marvin, who had rushed over. To his right were another elderly man and a middle-aged man.
Both groups had the same setup, but the people looked completely different.
Richard was just a little dirty, while the other old man had a bruised face. The middle-aged man didn’t look much better, his face bruised and lip busted. He looked absolutely miserable.

Stella arrived and witnessed the whole chaotic scene for herself.
Stella’s brows furrowed the instant she saw who it was-the old man and the middle-aged guy.
They looked up and immediately exploded. “Stella, look at what your grandpa did to me. If you don’t fix this, I won’t let it go!” the old man yelled.
“Stella, I know you’ve got issues with us because of what happened-and because of Sylvia-but you can’t let this happen. I’m fine, but my dad is old. If anything happens to him, can you handle that?”
It was Victor Finch and Wade Finch, Sylvia’s grandfather and uncle. She only knew them because Wade had dredged up old family drama in front of the officer.
Back when Stella and her mom were kicked out of the Jansen family’s residence by Theodore, these two had shown up too.
Victor had always been foul-mouthed and rude. Every time he saw Stella and her mom, he’d look at them like dirt.
And Wade was always polite on the surface, with that fake smile, but he was always scheming behind the scenes.
