On the way back after dinner, Stella suddenly remembered Jessica’s invitation and brought it up to Jeremy. “Hey Jeremy, do you think I should go?”
“Doesn’t really matter,” Jeremy replied, sounding super chill. “I mean, come on, it’s not like she’d actually try anything in a country with laws. Even if she wanted to stir up trouble, she wouldn’t dare mess with you.
“Plus, if the place turns out to be boring, just leave. Don’t forget, she needs something from you, so you’ve got the upper hand here.”
“True,” Stella said with a grin, nodding. “Guess I’ll go and see for myself.” ‘Worst case, I can just walk out,‘ Stella thought to herself.
Soon, they entered the elevator. Stella got off at the design department floor, while Jeremy stayed on his way to the top floor.
The design department had a private studio with all the tools and equipment needed for the designers. As soon as Stella returned, she dove straight into her work. By the time she finished, it was already dark outside.
“Stella, what took you so long?” Jessica was practically bouncing with impatience. “I sent you so many messages–didn’t you see them?”
If she hadn’t been worried about getting on Stella’s nerves, Jessica would’ve barged in a long time ago.
“Yeah, I saw them,” Stella said, nodding like it was no big deal.
Jessica looked confused. “Then why didn’t you—”
“I was busy,” Stella cut her off.
Jessica fell silent for a moment. ‘Stay cool, stay cool–she’s my ticket to all things good. Gotta stay on her good side, Jessica reminded herself.
“Well, good for you,” Jessica smiled, her voice forced. “I just love how focused you are on your work, Stella.”
“Weren’t we supposed to go out and have some fun?” Stella asked, looking at her calmly. “Aren’t we leaving yet?”
“Right, let’s go. It’ll be late if we wait any longer,” Jessica said, snapping out of her thoughts. She hurried Stella into her car, and they drove off to a secret spot in Seabrook.
Half an hour later, they pulled up to a shabby, low–key restaurant on the outskirts of the city.
Stella cast her a skeptical look. “Are you sure this is the right place?”
Jessica nodded. “Stella, don’t judge a book by its cover. You’ll see–there’s a hidden gem inside. Just follow my lead.”
Stella stayed quiet and followed after her.

When they reached the entrance, a waiter leaned in and asked quietly, ‘Do you have an invitation?”

Stella was genuinely taken aback that such a rundown place required an invitation to enter. If she hadn’t been curious to see what Jessica was up to, she would’ve walked right out.
Yeah, I’ve got it.” Jessica replied, pulling out her phone to show the e–invitation.
Once he verified it, his whole demeanor shifted–he bowed slightly and eagerly opened the door for them, announcing. “Welcome home, my ladies. It is an honor to serve you.”
She stared at the waiter, then shot a confused glance at Jessica. “What does that even mean?”
The waiter smiled, bowing slightly. “Now that you’re here, we are your most loyal servants. Anything you want, just say the word. No limits. Even if it’s a bit more special.”
He gave Stella a flirtatious look, pulling down his collar to reveal his well–toned chest.
Whether the guy was supposed to be hot or not was another story–honestly, Stella felt her eyes burn at the sight.
Even after seven years of marriage and all the pain, she couldn’t deny Ernest was like a sculpted statue, flawless in every way. There was no comparison. She would never give this guy a second glance.
Her look of blatant dislike couldn’t have been more obvious; the poor waiter’s self–confidence almost shattered right then and there.
‘Man, I spent three months pumping iron in the gym, finally wrangled myself into this gig hoping to reel in a rich lady, and now all my hard–earned pecs just got shot down. What a blow to my ego,‘ the waiter thought.
Jessica gave a disgusted look. “Can you move away from us?” she said. After the waiter left, she turned back to Stella. “Stella, this is a wild party, but also a good chance to network. You can relax, meet people, and just have fun.
“We’re here to kick back and have fun. Whatever vibe you like, the hosts can arrange it. So, what do Want me to hook you up with a guy–someone to hang out with?” Jessica said with a playful wink.

“Is that it? Is that all?” Stella replied, her voice dripping with boredom. If this was all there was to the so–called party, she was about to peace out.
But Jessica totally misread Stella’s reaction. Truth be told, she had thought Stella might be interested, but she never expected her to seem so eager. Jessica decided to find some handsome guys to cheer her up.
“Alright, here’s the plan,” Jessica said, giving Stella a reassuring pat on the shoulder. “Just go chill for a bit, and I’ll go check with the organizers.”
“Fine,” Stella replied. Since there was clearly more going down and she was already here anyway, Stella figured she might as well hang out a bit longer.
Jessica dropped her off in the lounge and disappeared.

Before she could act on it, an unexpected but familiar face appeared in front of her.

“Stella, I thought you looked familiar. Didn’t think it’d actually be you,” Michael called out, grinning with his arm slung around a girl dressed in something that barely counted as clothes.
Stella didn’t even glance up. “Do you want something?”
“Relax, old friends have to at least say hi, right?” Michael said, plopping down right next to her and pulling his
date closer.
Suddenly, he leaned in and asked, “Hey, does Ernest know you’re here?”
“What’s it to you?” Stella shot back, her voice icy.
Michael didn’t care about her attitude. “Just curious. We all thought you were the quiet type, but looks like you’ve got a wilder side.” It was clear he knew what kind of party this was.
“So?” Stella repeated, her voice icy. “Why do you care?”
After being embarrassed multiple times in front of his date, Michael finally snapped. “You’re not afraid I’ll tell Ernest about this? ”
“Go ahead,” Stella said, completely indifferent. “You can even call him now, video chat if you want.”
Michael froze. He had been shocked to see Stella here, of all places. He never imagined she’d be into a scene like this.
In his mind, her whole life revolved around her husband and kid, playing the perfect housewife.
If she ever left the house, it had to be for grabbing groceries or something domestic. Otherwise, she’d hole up at home, living that uneventful, routine life.
This utter indifference she showed Ernest was so startling that Michael thought he had to be seeing things.
