Professor Green was elegant and refined. He smiled politely and replied, “Mr. Sawyer , there’s no need to be so courteous. Ms. Quill has already thanked me.”
Irvin frowned. Men had a keen sensitivity to their territory, and Irvin instinctively disliked Professor Green, even though the latter had just saved me, his wife.

“Mr. Green, I’m grateful for you saving my wife. Whatever you need, I’ll do my best to fulfill it; But you don’t have to concern yourself with her anymore.”
The possessiveness in his voice would’ve made me think he was jealous and still loved me, but the truth was that he felt his masculinity had been challenged.

Professor Green seemed to want to say more, but after a glance at me, he fell silent.
Irvin looked down at me with a sweetness that seemed too perfect, as though nothing had ever happened between us and we were a loving couple.
“Come on, honey, let’s go home.”
I didn’t know how he could be so shameless. He had disregarded my life again and again for Julianne, yet now he was playing the loving husband.
I didn’t bother to respond and only flashed him an indifferent smile. Meanwhile, I counted to three in my head. When I saw Irvin arrive earlier, I sent a text to Julianne. By now, she had probably already figured out a way to snatch him away.
Before I reached three, Irvin’s phone rang. He immediately loosened his hold on me and answered Julianne’s call. I couldn’t hear what she said, but Irvin’s expression turned from concern to full–on panic.
After hanging up, he looked at me and said, “Lianne has been rushed to the emergency room. She had an allergic reaction from a medication mix–up. I need to go now. My assistant will take you home.”
He turned to leave, but I grabbed his arm to stop him. “You’re not a doctor. What difference will it make if you go?

He looked at me in disbelief, as if I had just said something outrageous. “Emilia, how can you be so heartless?”
I tilted my head, just as incredulous. “How am I heartless? When I was rescued after falling off the cliff, the doctors called you. You told them you weren’t a doctor and could make no difference going to see me.”
I might’ve forgotten our past , but there were many things I had uncovered. His words when I was being saved were widely spread in the hospital, and anyone could easily find out.
Irvin’s frustration peaked as he yanked his arm away from me. “You were just pretending!” he shouted. “Lianne’s situation is serious! ”

He believed that with such a high cliff and deep water below, I hadn’t gotten hurt from falling , given my excellent swimming skills.
I sneered.
Who on earth could pretend to be hospitalized for three months? If anyone bothered to check, they’d know the truth. But Irvin hadn’t even bothered to look into it.
“ What about yesterday? I almost drowned, and you couldn’t even spare a glance at me. Julianne’s fine, but you rushed her off to the hospital. If that’s not love, then what it? Irvin, don’t be so greedy. Why don’t you just divorce me with some dignity and be with the one you love?
If possible, I would really want to divorce with dignity and end this marriage quickly.
