Chapter 180
“Take every single one of them back ! ” Irvin shouted.
With his single command, his men immediately seized Travis and everyone he had brought with him.
Seeing how boldly he had Travis taken down without hesitation, I figured there was a good chance he had already rescued Julianne. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be acting so confident. And Travis wouldn’t be surrendering so easily.
Just as I was thinking I could finally come out, I saw Irvin walk straight to the edge of the cliff. Then, without a word, he jumped.
I stood there, completely stunned, unable to process what had just happened.
No one saw it coming. Everyone on the hilltop stared open mouthed, dumbfounded. Even Travis looked shocked at first, but then , he burst out laughing like a madman.
Travis knew–he’d always known–that despite Irvin pampering Julianne, despite repeatedly hurting me for her sake, I was the one he loved most. 1
And now, Irvin had jumped after me, hearing I’d gone off the cliff.
Travis knew he was screwed either way, but with Irvin making that jump, there was no guarantee he would survive. That alone made this a huge win for Travis. It was totally worth it for an orphan like him to drag the almighty Irvin down with him before he died.
Travis‘ crazed laughter jolted everyone back to their senses including me.
At that moment, I started to believe that maybe Irvin really did love me. Because if he didn’t, he wouldn’t have lost his mind the second he heard I had jumped. He wouldn’t have thrown himself off that cliff without hesitation.
But I wasn’t moved by it. Not even the slightest.
If this had happened the last time–back when I still remembered him, when I really did fall off that cliff–maybe I would’ve been overwhelmed with emotion.
Maybe I would’ve forgiven him, no matter how much I had suffered or how much pain I had endured. And maybe I would’ve still loved him.
But at that moment, I found his actions ridiculous. He was the one who drove me to this, yet he was acting like he couldn’t live without me.
Even someone with multiple personalities wouldn’t be this contradictory.
Was I worried about whether he’d survive? Not a chance.
The cliff I fell from last time was even higher than this one. If anything, I hoped he ended up worse off than I had. I wanted to stand by his hospital bed, look down at him, and ask him what the hell he was pretending for.
I wanted him to lie there, completely unable to move, drowning in so much pain that he’d rather die than endure another second of being alive.
Landon Smith, one of Irvin’s close friends, snapped out of his daze. Without warning, he kicked Travis hard in the chest and barked, “Motherfucker! What are you laughing at You got a death wish? I’ll be happy to grant it!”
Landon was furious. He never in a million years expected Irvin to jump without warning.

After all, Irvin had made it clear he didn’t care about me . He had handed me over without hesitation to save Julianne. So why would he lose control just because I supposedly jumped?
There was no time to figure that out at that moment. He quickly ordered some men to go down and retrieve Irvin.
Meanwhile , the people from the helicopter had landed.
The moment I saw who stepped out, my hope of sneaking away instantly disappeared. It was Quinton Harmon, Irvin’s best buddy. The one who hated me the most.
I couldn’t be sure whether he’d try to kill me, just like Ms. Plume had. So I stayed curled up in the small cave, frozen in place, not daring to make a sound.
Quinton walked over and immediately started cursing loudly. Landon had informed him that Irvin had jumped the moment he thought I had done so.
