She actually said she would cut ties with me. She actually went that far for Julianne.
Why? Why was she willing to go to such lengths for an adopted daughter?
At first, she didn’t even like Julianne. Maybe, over time, she grew to like her more because of her misunderstandings about me, thinking that I was cruel and heartless.

I continued, “She tried to kill me, and you still don’t think she’s wicked? But you think I am? You’re willing to disown your own daughter for someone like her!”
After shouting those words, I couldn’t help but laugh at my own stupidity. After everything I had been through, I was still expecting an explanation.
But what could she possibly say? If her heart was biased, she wouldn’t even realize it.
The things I struggled to understand weren’t things she needed a reason for.
Sure enough, she let out a cold snort. “Why do I treat Lianne better than you? Isn’t that a question you should be asking yourself? Why are you such a failure that your own mother would rather favor an adopted daughter over you?”
She continued, “Julianne’s cruel? How is she cruel? Don’t even mention that kidnapping case. You framed her!”
“Even if she was the mastermind behind it, it’s still your fault! You knew how much she loved Irvin , so why did you come between them? You made her lose her love and suffer so badly. Isn’t it normal that she would want to get back to you?”
Hearing Mom speak with such conviction, my soft chuckle turned into uncontrollable laughter.
I was truly the biggest fool in the world. Even now, I still wanted an explanation from her.
Initially, Mom had spoken so confidently, but when she saw me laughing hysterically, she suddenly felt uneasy.
Her nervousness made her raise her voice. “Millicent, stop laughing like a crazy woman! Just give me an answer. Yes or no?”
I laughed for a long time before finally stopping. Then, I looked at her and said, “No.”
