Chapter 222

Following the direction Landon was pointing at, Irvin spotted Noah. His eyes darkened, but he didn’t respond.
Landon said, “Emilia is beautiful and wealthy. She’ll be swarmed by suitors very soon now that she’s divorced. I really think you were too impulsive when you gave all your assets to her. If you want to have a chance of winning her back, I suggest you figure out how to get some cash on hand, Irvin.
“Otherwise, you won’t be able to win her back. Not only that, you’ll have to watch helplessly as another man snatches her away. Or worse, she might even be scammed out of her money and love.”
Landon genuinely felt Irvin had made the wrong move. Regardless of how remorseful he was, he still shouldn’t have transferred all his assets to me.
We lived in a capitalistic era, so what could Irvin possibly have without money? Without it, he had nothing and was a nobody. Forget about getting me back, he would probably have no choice but to watch as I was snatched away by someone else.
Irvin stayed silent–and remained fixated on my shrinking silhouette. It wasn’t until I had completely disappeared from his view that he reluctantly rolled up his window.
“You can’t get by without money in today’s society, Irvin! Especially when you’ll be working for Emilia for the rest of your life!” Landon continued to admonish.
Irvin had gone from a domineering CEO to a regular office worker. Landon felt as though all his charm had vanished overnight. 1
“You may not think the people around her right now are a threat, but what if she meets a powerful elite one day? You have nothing left, Irvin. How will you be able to compete like this? You’re clearly at a disadvantage!” Landon
chided.
Just when he thought Irvin would continue ignoring him, Irvin suddenly faced him.
“Who says I have nothing left?” Irvin argued.
Landon was momentarily stunned by his response. Snapping out of it quickly, he asked, “Did you keep something from Emilia?”
He thought Irvin had withheld something.
“No, I gave her everything,” Irvin replied. He didn’t have anything aside from his wonderful memories of us. Landon was dumbfounded. Irvin had given everything to me, so how could he claim he wasn’t left with nothing?
“You’ll surely regret your decision in the future, Irvin,” Landon said in resignation.
He believed Irvin’s feelings would change over time. Right now, Irvin was too overwhelmed by guilt, so he was acting impulsively. However, once the guilt faded, Landon felt Irvin would surely regret giving everything to me.
“I will never regret it,” Irvin stated firmly.
He had never cared about money. To him, no amount of money was worth as much as me. Forget about money, he wouldn’t hesitate to give his life for me if I wished it.
What he meant was that he still had his brains and connections. Besides, we would still be together moving forward. Thus, Irvin would still have something even if his worst fears came true.

Four years ago, he was a connectionless fresh graduate. Yet, in those four years, he had managed to build up his current company. Well… two companies, to be precise. ̧
“His younger self had accomplished so much, but it was nothing compared to what he could do now. In fact, it
would be easy for him to make money and rise again.
To Irvin, figuring out how to win me back was his most daunting challenge.
He had been distressed after learning that my injuries had been genuine. He was so deeply in despair that he no longer wished to be alive. This was because Irvin couldn’t even forgive himself, let alone beg me for my forgiveness.
What was more, my unwavering and resolute attitude toward him left him utterly hopeless. It was to the extent that he didn’t know how he would continue living.
But then, he eventually realized I was being so unyieldingly heartless toward him because I had forgotten him. He was so certain of this that he believed I would remember how much I had loved him after regaining my memories.
Plus, he was sure I would still love him again once I did. Then, we would be together again.
But right now, Irvin had to remain calm and rational. He had to try and go about his life.
He refused to remain divorced from me. Although he knew his love for me was selfish, he truly couldn’t let me go. And he never would… not unless he was dead!
