felt the heat from a malicious glare the moment I entered the courtroom.
Upon meeting Julianne’s hateful gaze, I could tell she wished I was dead. Smiling arrogantly, I challengingly cocked an eyebrow at her.
The look on my face seemed to say, “Oh? You want ine dead? I’m not the one who’s finished right now–you are!”
Julianne’s hatred instantly intensified at my cocky provocation. She had never wanted me dead as much as she did in this moment.
However, her fervent wishes were all in vain. She knew she was no longer a match for me now. I was no longer the dirty doormat beneath her shoe.
Julianne knew she would be lucky if she could walk away from this criminal trial unscathed. She also knew she couldn’t make any mistakes during the trial session. Thus, she didn’t glance my way again.

Everyone I loved had turned against me and doted on her. Plus, Julianne didn’t even need to instigate anything- all she had to do was cry, and I would automatically be in the wrong. Then, my own family and my beloved husband would immediately scold and mistreat me for her.
Julianne had always been the winner among us. Thus, she didn’t know how things had turned out like this.
The evidence was sound, and Mark was skilled, so I thought Julianne would be sentenced to at least ten years in prison.
Our key witness was one of the kidnappers from the incident. He was the one who had pointed us to Julianne as the mastermind. However, he unexpectedly changed his testimony during court and claimed he was the mastermind.
He said he had initially pinned the blame on Julianne to avoid a longer sentence, And now, he was even saying she was a victim too.
Mark and I were stunned by this turn of events as we were using the kidnapper’s family as leverage in this trial. We had promised to give his family a sum of money that was large enough for them to live comfortably for the rest of their lives–all he had to do was tell the truth.
Hence, we had expected him to testify accordingly. We never expected he would suddenly go back on our agreement.
