The car came to a stop before Noah could think of a response. As I stepped outside, I received a call from the lab.
Although I hadn’t officially started grad school yet, I was already logging hours in the lab by helping out wherever I could. I would only start school in the spring of next year, so I had to wait until then before I could officially participate in the lab’s research.
I walked as I talked on the phone. Cordelia had linked her arm with mine and was window shopping, Neither of us was paying attention to Noah, so we didn’t notice his darkening gaze.
Malls were the busiest toward the end of the year. Even luxury malls, which usually had few visitors, were packed with people as though their goods were free.
Cordelia clicked her tongue as she watched people pass by with arms full of paper bags from luxury brand stores.
“There sure are a lot of rich people in this world. I wonder when I’ll become one of them,” she said.

Even so, she couldn’t afford to impulse–buy luxury bags whenever she wanted. In other words, she was still leagues away from those who could buy them like they were produce in a grocery store.
At her words, I smiled and hugged her with one arm. Then, took out my black card and waved it in front of her just like an arrogant CEO in television shows.
“Today’s that day! Buy whatever you want with this card–you can clear out the whole mall if you want to!” I proudly proclaimed.
Cordelia was dumbfounded. She was about to protest when I stopped her.
“Darling, my net worth is now over tens of billions. Do you know what that means? It’s more money than I could ever spend, even if I had a hundred lifetimes. Plus, I don’t plan to get married or have any kids in the future. So who else would I spend this money on if not my dearest bestie?” I stated.
“Wait, what do you mean you don’t plan to marry and have kids?” Cordelia instinctively asked. “You were just unlucky enough to meet one scumbag–not all men are like that!”
Noah nodded in agreement too. “That’s right, not all men are like Irvin. Look at me, Emi, I’m not a scumbag!”
They both looked so worried that I was put off from ever loving anyone again after what I had gone through.
I grinned and pulled them in for a hug.
“Let’s not talk about this right now. It wasn’t the point. My point is I have so much money now that I’ll never be

able to spend it all. So, I want to invite the two people I cherish the most to help me do so!” I exclaimed.
Cordelia and I were true bestfriends. She was also the only close friend I had. Plus, following the divorce , I was now filthy rich and genuinely had more money than I could ever spend.
She immediately stopped holding back upon hearing my words.
“Oh, darling! Do you have any idea how long I’ve been waiting for my bestfriend to get rich overnight? And now that day is finally here!” Cordelia squealed.
She had come across a chip on TikTok where the person’s life had taken off after her bestfriend became wealthy. She had immediately tagged me and said she couldn’t wait for me to get rich so that the same would happen to her.
Well, her wish was finally coming true now.
Seeing how elated she was, I suddenly realized my marriage to Irvin hadn’t been all bad.
I gave him four years of my life in exchange for hundreds of lifetimes‘ worth of wealth. It was pretty worth it if I looked at it from another perspective.
From now on, I would only focus on the good things and forget about the bad. The time had finally come for me to live a life of happiness and enjoyment!
