was about to retort when Mr. Ashford spoke again,
“The pregnant woman with Timothy is his wife. They even have a child together. Do you plan on breaking apart the family just because of his face?” Mr. Ashford added.
My eyes widened in shock.
“I have no such intentions!” I shot back indignantly.
I wasn’t even sure if Timothy was Irvin, but even if he was, I had just been caught off guard by the sight of someone who I thought was dead. My mind had been whirling as I struggled to process it all.
I only wanted to confirm whether or not Timothy was Irviii. I never even thought of being with him, let alone being a homewrecker!
Mr. Ashford glanced at me but didn’t say anything further.
Our food arrived just then, so I didn’t say anything, either.
Mr. Ashford shot me a meaningful look after the meal, as if telling me to seriously consider what he had said. Then, he left.
My mind wandered to his request as I watched his departing figure. Regardless, I also believed Noah and I were like siblings.
My head started aching, so I massaged my temples. I thought about heading back to the hotel before dealing with anything else.
Suddenly, someone called out, “Emi.”
It was Noah–his voice brought me back to reality.
I was about to smile at him out of habit, but then I recalled what Mr. Ashford had said. When I thought of how Noah felt about me, I couldn’t bring myself to smile.
Noah was a sensitive person , so he immediately noticed something was off.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
“Nothing. I’m just a little tired,” I answered.
I hadn’t figured out how to handle this yet , and I also didn’t want to disrupt our current dynamic.
Sensing that I didn’t want to talk about it, Noah didn’t probe further.
Instead, he said, “Hey, Emi. I heard Lestoria has a master practitioner of traditional medicine. We should pay him a visit and ask him to make a scar–lightening salve for you. Supposedly, his salves can make scars disappear almost completely!”
Noah had always been concerned about the scars on my body. He had even constantly reminded me to undergo scar–lightening treatment ever since I had surgery to remove all the steel rods and bolts.
By now , my scars had faded to the point where they were barely visible. Yet , he still worried about them.
Unable to reject his concern, I smiled and said, “Okay.”
Thus, we went to visit the master practitioner. Then, we returned to the hotel after obtaining the salve.
Before I could dwell on whether Timothy and Irvin were the same person, I immersed myself in my work with my research
teammates .
Due to the success of our human trial, we would be unveiling our research results at the Global Technology Forum that was taking place tomorrow.

Meanwhile, at Hardwell Manor, Timothy had finished going through the documents on his desk when he recalled how I had been staring at him earlier that day.
He turned to his assistant, Solomon Page, who had been standing nearby.
“Look into Emilia Quill–she’s the woman from earlier today. Leave out no detail. I want a thorough report, ” Timothy instructed.
“Yes, sir,” Solomon respectfully acknowledged before leaving.
He then made his way to the music room where Mrs. Hardwell was playing the piano. Her playing was excellent that even someone who wasn’t musically inclined could tell she was exceptionally skilled.
Solomon waited until Mrs. Hardwell had finished the piece before stepping forward.
“Mr. Hardwell has requested I investigate Ms. Emilia Quill , ma’am” he stated.
Mrs. Hardwell closed her eyes for a prolonged moment before opering them again.
“Do as he asks,” she replied.
She waited until Solomon left before she resumed playing. This time, she chose an intense piece. The melody was fierce and
frenzied.
The child in her womb stirred and moved restlessly because of this. Mrs. Hardwell stopped playing when she felt the movements increased and placed her hand gently on her belly.
There was a complicated look in her eyes.
