William’s outstretched hand froze at the sound of the overjoyed voice.
Snapping back to reality, he quickly retracted his hand and stuffed it into his pocket. His already deep gaze now seemed so dark that it was like the vast deep space.
I reflexively turned toward the direction of Noali’s voice when I heard it.
He had grown so much in the past year. He no longer had a youthful air around him and had now transformed into a full- -grown adult. So much so that his image no longer matched the version of younger brother I had.

He found it odd that William was here. His uncle was renowned for being cold–hearted. If anything were to happen to him, it was unlikely that William would travel so far to visit him, let alone for someone who wasn’t even family.
“No, I’m here because I had something to discuss with Emilia,” William replied indifferently.
Noah nodded in understanding and didn’t ask further.
Wrapping his arm around mine, he then said, “Well then , Uncle Will , Emi and I are going upstairs to see Grandma.”
Noah would visit Grandma whenever he had the time, and Grandma , in turn , became especially fond of him. Now, it had reached the point where he would address her as “Grandma” like I did.
William glanced briefly at Noah’s hand on my arm before humming detachedly in response. And instead of leaving after we left, he pulled out a cigarette and lit it.
William’s assistant, Matthew Manners, watched from the side as William smoked pensively.
Matthew couldn’t put his finger on what he was feeling as he studied his employer. He had been with William for over a decade now , and it was rare to see him show any interest in a woman.
