Irvin lowered his gaze.
After a pensive moment, he replied, “Okay. I’ll verify her true identity and send her to prison!”
Irvin might have taken a moment to respond, but I still felt his reply was too decisive, which wasn’t like him at all.
I had known Irvin for a long time, so I knew he valued loyalty and Kindness. That was why he still helped Julianne during her criminal trial even after learning the whole truth.

“Lianne can’t hurt you again. And once William has no use for her, she won’t have a good end either. So please, let’s stop caring about her. Let her fend for herself, alright?” Irvin implored.
He had said before that the last time he helped Julianne would be the final time. He would never help her again. But for him to personally send her to prison , Irvin simply couldn’t do it.

As I looked at Irvin, I could see that even now, he still thought Julianne hadn’t willingly climbed into Phillip’s bed. I could also tell that he still found ways to justify every terrible thing she’d done.
I suddenly didn’t want to continue this conversation. It felt pointless.
Meeting my disappointed gaze , Irvin instinctively reached out for me. “Babe…”
