While Gideon’s parents and I had gotten along well before, back then, I didn’t have a real connection with them.
We merely had a business relationship, and people were naturally polite and cordial to their business partners. But if this partner were to become part of their family? It would be a different story.

Now, all we had to do was wait until City Monday so we could register our marriage.

She had always wanted me to completely sever things with Irvin. But when I mentioned wanting to remarry and have a child, she couldn’t help feeling worried. She was worried I might end up harrying the wrong person.
Nowadays , there were so many stories of men killing their wives for insurance and whatnot. And because I was wealthy , if I ended up marrying a wolf in sheep’s clothing, things could take a tragic turn. Cordelia even feared I would lose both my life and my baby’s during childbirth.
However, if I was marrying Gideon, her worries completely disappeared. Then, when I told her he had liked me for ten years, Cordelia became even more pleased with him.
“Ten years? If he’s liked you for that long, he’ll definitely treat you well in the future. You can never go wrong with marrying someone who loves you!” she exclaimed.
I smiled and nodded in agreement.
Then, Cordelia suddenly had an idea. Clapping her hands excitedly, she said, “I’ll have my fiancé come to Claudeville right away! On Monday, we’ll get married at the same time!
“Then, we’ll collect our marriage certificates on the same day , have our weddings together, and even give birth around the same time! We’ll go through life together moving forward!”
She hugged my arm as she spoke. Her face was full of happiness. While it all really did sound wonderful, I still hesitated
“Didn’t you and your fiancé only get together recently? Isn’t it a bit too soon for the two of you to be getting married?” I asked.
I didn’t want Cordelia to rush into her marriage just because she wanted to match my marriage timeline. After all, Ing other way out, whereas she still had many options.
“We may have just gotten together, but we’ve actually known each other for a long time and understand each other well. Don’t worry , this isn’t a rushed decision. So, I won’t regret it!” Cordelia reassured me.
She understood me well, so she knew what I was concerned about. And when I remembered she had mentioned she and her fiancé had been colleagues for five years now, I didn’t say anything more.
The more Cordelia thought about it, the more eager she grew to get her marriage certificate tomorrow. Thus, she immediately took out her phone and called her fiancé. When he answered, she told him to come to Claudeville tomorrow so they could get married,
Maybe her fiancé truly did love her because he agreed right away and told her he would head over immediately.
When Cordelia hung up, she was over the moon. I felt happy for her too. She wouldn’t have been so eager to get married to her Ph.D. fiancé if she didn’t have genuine feelings for him.

After all, when I married Irvin years ago , Cordelia had a boyfriend Back then too. However, she never thought of getting married on the same day as me.
We were both so happy that neither of us thought her certainty would later turn to regret once she was married. Cordelia thought marrying him would be the beginning of happiness. No one expected it to be a living nightmare.
Two days flew by in the blink of an eye.
After tonight, I would be getting my marriage certificate with Gideon tomorrow. From then on, we would be husband and wife, and nothing could possibly happen between Irvin and me anymore
Knowing this, my mind began to spiral uncontrollably again. But no matter how chaotic my thoughts were, I didn’t do anything. Just as I was about to wash up and get ready for bed , one of Gideons friends called me. He told me Gideon had drunk too much because he was too happy. Then , he asked if I could come to the bar to pick him up.
