She left her fiancé, who had travelled all the way here, to wait for me at my place. As soon as I got home and before I could even put my bag down , she rushed over to me.

I told her everything, what I saw at the bar and everything that happened.
When I was done, her expression was so complicated that it was difficult to describe.
It took her a long while to say anything.
“Fuck. Men really are all the same, trash! I thought he’d be a good husband, since he had loved you for ten years. I thought he’d treasure you, treat you like a princess after all that time. But no, he actually… he…”
She was so furious that she couldn’t even finish her words.
“Did he just realize you’ve been divorced?” she snapped. “He’s known about you and Irvin for so long, why didn’t he care before? And now he suddenly has a problem with it, just when you’re about to get married?
“And what about him? He’s had exes too, right? He’s not a virgin himself. What right does he have to judge you? What a jerk! We’re already living in the 21st century.”
These days, women have just as much right to enjoy life as men do. I just happened to have married the wrong man, that was all. And even if I were a player , so what? Why was it okay for men to have fun, but not women?

“You definitely can’t marry guys like that. If he’s already using this kind of excuse to cheat, he’ll keep doing it again and again. Once a man cheats, he’ll continue to cheat,” she said.
I nodded, thinking she was absolutely right.
Cheating was like domestic violence . It either never happened, or it happened countless times.
“You should just toss him out and find a new one!” she said.
“Yeah!” I replied.
When I was about to go to bed, William sent me a bunch of photos. Even though none of them were explicit, they were enough to serve as evidence against him.
As I looked at those photos, I couldn’t help but feel complicated again.
I didn’t sleep well again that night.
When I finally managed to fall asleep, Gideon knocked on my door to pick me up to get our marriage certificate.
I opened the door and saw him standing outside, poised and elegant as always. He looked at me with eyes full of love and tenderness.
