“Boss, the target has been delivered,” she said.
“Give her a bath and then set up the camera,” the person on the offer end replied.

After ending the call, she turned toward me. With a sinister smile, lie commented, “I guess education really does pay off. Our boss wants to take you himself–fuck!”
Boss?
She was referring to this person in an unusual way. Because of this I couldn’t help racking my brain to figure out when I had ever crossed an atypical group. And who was this “boss” she was speaking of?
As though she could tell what I was thinking, the woman explained, “Your ex–husband blew up our organization’s cruise ship and killed a bunch of our members. Did you really think we’d just let it go because William Ashford stepped in?”
My stomach sank at her words. She was from the same major criminal organization that had once kidnapped me and Mr. Holland.
The woman continued, “If you weren’t somewhat capable, and the boss didn’t still have use for you, you’d already be dead! So I suggest you behave. And when the boss gets here, you better lie back and let him have his way with you.
“After that, you’re going to listen to him and do whatever research he tells you to. If you don’t , it won’t just be you who dies- your family and friends will too!
“And don’t think William Ashford can save you this time. Over the past two years, our organization’s influence has spread across the mainland. We don’t need to fear him anymore! Otherwise, we wouldn’t have dared lay a hand on you at a high–profile event/ like this.”
She spoke with confidence, especially about how they were able to infiltrate tonight’s event despite its tight security. This only proved their boss had an influential public identity.
I couldn’t help the surge of panic and fear at this realization. I was afraid that even if I did manage to escape, they would just come after me again. I was also worried Grandma and Mr. Holland would get caught up in this too.
After all, last time, they had managed to abduct me and Mr. Holland and then make it to international waters without knowing. Now that their power had clearly grown over these two years, there was no telling what they were capable of.

This fear made me instinctively tighten my grip on the vial in my hand. It also made me force myself to stay calm. I had always been good at remaining calm in the face of fear.
After setting up the camera, the woman bent down to drag me to the bathroom. And in the exact moment she reached for me, I suddenly splashed the contents of the vial on her face.
The woman hadn’t expected me to still have strength left, so she didn’t react in time. And by the time she realized what had happened, she had already inhaled a significant amount of the drug.
Furious, the woman raised her hand to slap me. But then, her body began to sway, and she started to lose her balance.

A while ago, when I had visited Grandma, she told me she had managed to get her hands on a batch of Henry’s latest sedatives from his lab. According to her, this sedative could knock out a bull in around 10 seconds. Grandma had insisted I keep some on me for self–defense–just in case.
I had cut ties with Henry long ago and wanted nothing to do with him or anything related to him. That being said, this sedative was a top–tier self–defense weapon, and I wouldn’t refuse something like this.
