Irvin’s heart twisted in pain as he saw my eyes welled up with tears it hurt so much that he could barely stand. Already unstable, his body swayed even inore.
He wanted to hug me so badly. But he knew he no longer had the right

He had never imagined that one day, he would do something so unforgivable that he’d lose even the right to touch me
And knowing this was all his fault for not being careful enough, bigeyes reddened with rage and hatred at the Hardwells and at himself.

“ I’m sorry, Emi,” he said. “I have to be responsible for her. Forget about me. After all… you couldn’t really forgive me completely, right? Rather than staying with me and suffering from the hurt, why don’t you just let go and start a new life?”
Irvin had always known how much I loved him. He knew I wouldn’t be able to let go, even if I couldn’t forgive him. It helped him believe we still had a chance together, and it kept him going.
When we got married, he swore he would love me forever , that he’d make me the happiest woman in the world.
But not only did he fail to keep that promise, he misunderstood me hated me , ignored me , punished me, and tortured me because of his own assumptions.
He wasn’t aware that I was severely injured. He even thought I was just faking it because of the hatred in his heart.
Whenever he recalled everything that happened, he could barely hold back from strangling himself.
Before what happened with Grace and when he was still untainted, he had truly believed that no one in this world could love me better than he could and make me happy.
He would no longer hurt me or let me go. He would spend the rest of his life making up for the pain he caused me.
But now that he had done the unthinkable, he knew I would never accept him again. After the hurt and betrayal, there were no more possibilities between us.
So now, he wanted me to forget him completely, move on, and start a new life.

“I’m sorry , Emi. It seems like I’ve been hurting you all these years. Maybe you were right that I didn’t love you enough. If I did, how could I hurt you? My love was too selfish. I don’t deserve someone like you. You should move on and meet someone else.”
On quiet nights, Irvin would often be reminded of what I once asked him.
I asked him why he could hurt me so much if he truly loved me. He literally just stood there and watched me suffer.
He had asked himself the same question. And the more he thought about it, the more he was forced to face the truth , no matter how much he didn’t want to.
