Magnus favored and protected Irvin. However , the more he did so, the more Agatha’s hatred for Irvin Intensified, she hated hou easily he had replaced her precious Timothy and felt it was unfair to her son.
Timothy had worked so hard from a young age. Yet, he had never received any praise from Magnus. So why did Irvin? Why him ? “Tim is also your son, Magnus!” Agatha yelled.
Right now , Magnus couldn’t bear to hear Agatha mention Timothy anymore—especially in that tone.
“Yes, Timothy is my son. But he’s gone!” he snapped impatiently. He’s dead! What do you want me to do when he’s no longer here? Join him underground? Then, why don’t you go do that instead?”
“I’m not saying you should join him–I just want you to be iñore fair!” Agatha retorted. “Tim had to work so, so hard to earn everything he had and your recognition. How could you forget about him and move off to Irvin so easily?
“How could you allow Irvin to take Tim’s place and let him take everything that was Tim’s so easily? Tim would be so heartbroken if he could see this! He’s your son! You can’t just forget him like this!”
To begin with, Magnus had never loved Agatha deeply. And now , more than ever, he felt she was mentally unwell.
“Timothy is already dead!” he shouted. “Don’t you get it? He’s already dead! Why can’t I allow someone to take his place when he’s no longer alive? Do you expect me to keep that position for him forever, and then just let someone else take over the family?
“You think Tim’s had it tough growing up, but have you ever thought about Irvin? Irvin’s your son too! Since birth, Tim has been loved by both of us. He had the best the Hardwell family had to offer,” Magnus argued.
He continued exasperatedly, “You believe Tim suffered and didn’t have an easy life. Then , what about the son you abandoned and cast away at birth? What about Irvin?
“His father didn’t care about him, and his mother didn’t love him. He was kicked out of the house at 19 with nothing! Do you seriously think Irvin didn’t suffer? That he had it easy? What did he ever do wrong to deserve this kind of treatment from his own mother?”
Pointing at Agatha in frustration , he added, “I honestly don’t know what goes through your mind! You threw away your own son without any hesitation. Yet, not only do you not feel any guilt, you even hate him! How? Do you even realize how wrong that is? You’re seriously insane!”
Magnus only cared about profit. Still, deep down, he felt guilty for abandoning Irvin at birth. So, he had been trying to make it up to Irvin. He didn’t understand how Agatha–Irvin’s birth mother–could be so cruel to Irvin.
Agatha listened as Magnus hurled his accusations in rapid succession.
Unable to hold back anymore, she screamed, “You think I’m insane ? That I’m the guilty one? Don’t stand here acting like the good guy when you’re just as guilty, Magnus!
“If I hadn’t swapped Irvin for a baby girl back then, do you think you would’ve become the Hardwell heir? And now, the head of the family?”
Pointing an accusatory finger at Magnus, she continued, “Let’s not forget–you knew I was going to swap Irvin for a baby girl! You abandoned and cast him aside too! And now, you’re trying to pin all the blame on me! Could you not be a hypocrite?”
Magnus‘ expression darkened instantly at being called a hypocrite
Furious, he yelled, “You’re right–I did know about it and am guilty too. That’s exactly why I’m trying to make things right with Irvin. It’s also why you absolutely can’t harm the only son I have left! If you do, you can spend the rest of your life in a psychiatric hospital.
“Also, don’t think you can do whatever you want just because Grace is pregnant. There’s no guarantee she’ll carry them to term. And even if she does, there’s no guarantee the twins will be healthy or even of any value!
