When I had seen how stubbornly Noah loved me, I did once consider being with him, just as Williant had suggested. Maybe once Noah had me, he would finally stop obsessing over me and want me no more than he would boiled chicken

I was about to turn away and leave when he suddenly grabbed my arm.
“Could you try again, Emi? Please? Please try giving me a chance! Even if you’re pregnant with someone else’s children, please just try being with me. I really just want to be with you, Emi. If I can’t be with you, then I don’t know what meaning my life has left,” Noah begged.
Being kidnapped as a child had psychologically traumatized him. Because of this, Noah’s emotional development was a little unhealthy. Even though he had grown into a strong man, he still hadn’t completely healed from that trauma.

My head began throbbing at his unwavering stubbornness. Noah was such a good man. He was so good that he truly deserved the best this world had to offer. He shouldn’t be wasting his time on me.
Due to my headache, I didn’t get in my car and leave after exiting the restaurant. Instead, I walked toward the river and aimlessly wandered under the magnolia trees along it.
That was until I saw William leaning against one of them.
Outrageously attractive people had a way of outshining any scenery. So, even the beautiful spring landscape was reduced to a mere backdrop in his presence.
“You really can’t give Noah a chance?” he asked.
I could tell from his words that he already knew everything that had happened at the restaurant. But I wasn’t surprised. William cared a lot about his nephew, after all. So, it was normal for him to know everything that went on with Noah.
I hummed in response and then looked at him. “There truly is no possibility between Noah and me, Mr. Ashford. So, rather than persuading me to be with him, why not figure out a way for him to let go of me and find his real happiness? Noah is such a good person–he deserves the best!”
William straightened at this and walked toward me. “Don’t sell yourself short–you’re great too.”
His words stunned me.
“Noah is so obsessed with you that he won’t give up easily if he can’t have you. And forcing him to give up on you could cause him to spiral. You were willing to apply for a marriage license with Gideon Stone before. So, why won’t you consider giving Noah a chance?” William continued.
I was silent for a long while before I finally looked at him. “Just now , at the restaurant, I wasn’t lying to Noah. I really am
