Chapter 450

That being said, I was just as bad as Cordelia.
Standing outside the maternity store, I couldn’t help but want to buy everything as I looked at all the ridiculously adorable baby items inside. So, hand in hand, Cordelia and I walked happily into the store.
Without any warning, we ran right into Irvin and Grace.
Just as we entered, she held up a cute baby onesie to him. Grace was asking Irvin what he thought of it and if he found it adorable. She also wanted to know which color they should get it in–yellow, blue, or pink?
They were stunning individuals.
Irvin was tall and strikingly handsome. Dressed in a black, custom–tailored suit, his already distinct figure looked better than a model’s. On top of that, his cool and overpowering presence was both regal and alluring
Meanwhile, Grace was ethereally beautiful. Dressed in a form–fitting white dress, she exuded feminine elegance.
Standing side by side, they looked perfect together and so pleasing to the eye. Even the sales assistants were transfixed to the point that they forgot to greet other customers. They felt Irvin and Grace looked more like the leads of a romantic drama than
actual actors, but way better.
I was utterly stunned and had lost all my senses after suddenly running into them like this. Even Cordelia was too.
Then, Irvin looked in our direction. The moment my gaze collided with his dead, unreadable eyes, I felt as though I didn’t even recognize the man standing before me.
In my memory, Irvin’s eyes had always been transparent and bright. I could tell his likes and dislikes from his eyes alone. But now, the eyes of the man standing before me were dull. They didn’t even look like the eyes of a man who was in his prime.
Instead, his eyes looked as though they belonged to someone who had been through too much—like a man who had been hollowed by despair and had reached the end of his story. It was a little unnerving how lifeless and bottomless they were.
Feeling a shift in the air, Grace followed Irvin’s gaze toward us. Likewise, she was stunned to see me. However, she recovered quickly and greeted me with a smile. “Long time no see, Ms. Quill
Finding my senses, I smiled faintly and replied, “It has been a while , Mrs. Hardwell.”
Grace’s expression flickered almost imperceptibly when she heard me address her as “Mrs. Hardwell“. I had always addressed her as “Ms. Keller” in the past, but now, I was referring to her as “Mrs. Hardwell.”
Through this change, it was clear I had given up on Irvin for good and saw him and Grace as a true married couple.
Grace couldn’t help feeling a tinge of pleasure at this. Slipping her hand around Irvin’s arm, she said, “Aren’t you going to greet Ms. Quill, Tim? She did heal your legs, after all.”
Irvin had one hand casually in his pocket. At Grace’s words, he abruptly fisted it. He clenched it so tightly that the veins on the back of it bulged alarmingly.
It was a clear sign of how violently Irvin’s emotions were surging within him. However, his expression hadn’t changed at all. There wasn’t even a flicker in his eyes.
Looking at me as though I were a total stranger, Irvin said, “Hello, Ms. Quill.”
Truthfully, as I took in the way he was now , there was no way I wouldn’t feel any sadness.
After all, Irvin used to be my most important person , someone I had once loved for several years. That being said, that sadness was nothing more than just a flicker.
Smiling at him , I mirrored his greeting. “Hello, Mr. Hardwell.”
The moment I finished speaking, Grace asked, “Did you purposely come in here to say hello to us because you happened to spot

us? Or are you here to shop for something?”
She then glanced toward my stomach with deliberate casualness.
Of course, her words were meant to suggest that I was with someone else after moving on from Irvin. Not only that, I might even be pregnant with this other man’s child. That was why I was visiting a maternity store.
But the moment the words left Grace’s mouth, it hit her that I was the one Irvin had actually slept with that night. And based on the elapsed time, I would already be able to confirm if I was pregnant with Irvin’s child…
