Grace watched as William and I walked away.
But then, it occurred to her that someone else was suffering even more than she was. So, she looked up at Irvin.
Unable to conceal his feelings any longer, Irvin’s eyes were bloodshot and filled with tears. At the sight of this, Grace laughed silently.
She really wasn’t a good person. As long as someone was suffering with her–no, more than her–Grace would always feel things were bearable.
She tightened her grip on Irvin’s arm as an idea came to mind. “Look how happy Ms. Quill is now, Tim. People really should keep moving forward.”
Grace knew nothing she said could get Irvin to let me go. No matter what, he wouldn’t look her way and think of having a life with her.
Irvin was already in agony. Knowing this, she only said those words to antagonize him further and inflict even more emotional pain on him.
As long as she was upset, she wanted to make someone else feel worse. That was the sole reason Grace had made that statement.
Irvin didn’t say a word. He just looked at her with eyes full of misery.
He was under such unbearable torment. Yet, despite Grace’s aggravating words, he didn’t lose control and lash out at her. He wasn’t filled with hatred, nor did he want to tear her to pieces.
A new idea abruptly came to Grace’s mind. When she spoke again, it wasn’t to kick Irvin again while he was down.
Instead, she said seriously, “Emilia Quill has already found her happiness, Irvin. You no longer have any chance with her. Seriously, why don’t you let go of all that hatred in your heart and be with me properly instead? Believe me–if you’re willing, I can give you much more than you can imagine!”
Timothy wanted to use Irvin as free labor. Once his job was done, he would return to the Hardwell family and use Irvin as a scapegoat.
However, Grace could help Irvin take Timothy’s place for real. She could help him become the real Timothy.
Then, not only would his efforts not be wasted, but he would also be spared from becoming a sacrificial lamb. Plus, he could live in comfort for years to come.
But it all came down to Irvin’s choice.
After what had happened, he had hated Grace so much that he had wanted to end her life. Even so, if she had to choose between Irvin and Timothy, she would still prefer Irvin.
Yes, Irvin did hate Grace, but he was a good–natured person. So, if he was willing to let go of his vengeful resentment for her and work with her, their alliance would be far stronger than the one she had with Timothy.
Timothy was rotten to the core. He didn’t even care about his children, much less Grace. She was still useful

to him, yet he had threatened her. So, one could only imagine what he would do to her once she was no longer of use.
Irvin’s immediate reaction was to scoff at Grace’s suggestion. But then, his naturally sharp instincts quickly picked up that there was a deeper meaning behind her words. He believed it very likely had something to do with the people secretly watching him.
Irvin’s gaze darkened, and then he smiled sardonically. You can give me more than I can imagine? Hah! What can you give me? Please, I’m the Hardwell heir. You don’t even have the slightest ties to this family.”
He continued, “You may be a Keller, but without my help, you won’t be able to seize control of that family. You’re practically insignificant, so what exactly can you give me?”
Grace hadn’t seen any sign of good faith from Irvin. So , naturally, she wasn’t going to reveal that the real Timothy was actually still alive.
So, she merely said, “Trust me, Irvin. I meant every word. Think it over carefully–do you want to throw your life away, mourning over a lost love? Or do you want to stand at the very top and live a far better life?”
After she finished speaking, Grace spotted a wealthy socialite she had been hoping to get close to. Flashing Irvin a smile, she released his arm and walked off to greet the socialite.
Staring after Grace’s departing figure, Irvin’s eyes narrowed and his expression grew dangerous.
