Timothy believed that someone like me had very little chance of being useful to him again. So if he couldn’t use me, he might as well destroy me.
Moreover, instead of giving Irvin a quick death, he wanted to see in suffer, to torture him. So he directed all his forces to surround me and William
He wanted me to die here.
Irvin, who had already reached Solmera’s border, had felt that his retreat went too smoothly. He realized that something wasn’t right, so he turned back.
After finding out that Timothy had gathered all his forces against me and William, Irvin ignored the warnings from his men and rushed over.
By the time he arrived, he saw a sniper aiming at me and saw William shielding me with his body. Without hesitation, Irvin rushed forward and took the bullet.
Irvin believed that if William was ready to risk his life for me, then his feelings for me weren’t just simple affections but deep love. If he loved me that much and I was carrying his children, we should be living happily as a family of four.
I was speechless.
Hooked at Irvin, lying there in a pool of blood. He was probably moments away from death, but all he could think about was pushing me away .
So I could live.
Tears spilled down my cheeks. I didn’t understand why fate had to be so cruel.
Why did it have to be this way? Why couldn’t we just part ways peacefully and find our own happiness?
All I had ever wanted was for Irvin to live well.
Why? Why couldn’t he just live?

Seeing my tears and how I desperately tried to stop his bleeding with my hands , Irvin wished he could reach out and touch my face. He wished he could pull me into his arms one last time and never let go.
But he knew he couldn’t. No matter what, we could no longer be together.
So he forced himself to turn his gaze away from me and look at William behind me.
“William, get Emi out of here!” he said. “It’ll be too late if you don ! Timothy’s main forces are closing in fast. You have to leave now! If not, we’re all going to die here!”
As if on cue, a massive group of vehicles appeared in the distance just as Irvin finished speaking. They were driving toward us at terrifying speed.
There were so many vehicles that we didn’t dare imagine how many people were inside. And if they reached us, just like Irvin said, none of us would escape. We would all die here.
Knowing how dire the situation was, William understood that no matter how much he wanted to save all of us , including Irvin, he couldn’t. If he let things go on like this, we would all end up dead.
After tearing a long strip from his shirt to help stop Irvin’s bleeding, William realized how badly injured Irvin was. He knew that I would never leave Irvin behind, no matter what.
Without another word, William struck the back of my neck . After knocking me unconscious, he picked me up and ran toward the denser part of the forest.

Just before I lost all consciousness , I looked at Irvin..
I saw him struggling to get on his feet despite his fatal wounds. He picked up the gun beside him, determined to take down as many enemies as he could for us.
Tears slid from the corners of my eyes without me realizing it.
Irvin had always hurt me so much that the pain was unbearable. But the protection he gave me always shattered my heart and made it ache in a way I couldn’t control.
