She wanted to curse me out and refute what I had said. But maybe because deep down Agatha knew she was in the wrong, she tumbled for words and couldn’t think of a single comeback.
William tuned to Magnus at that moment and firmly declared, “Mr. Hardwell, I’m willing to do whatever it takes to rescue Irvin. You’re his birth father. So, if you want to work with me, I’ll operate and give it my all.
“However, if you don’t want to save him, then I won’t say more. After all, I am an outsider. But let me be clear, our cooperation only applies to saving Irvin.”
Magnus‘ expression turned ugly.
The way William had phrased things left no room for negotiation. Magnus knew it was pointless for him to discuss this further. Thus, he dropped the topic and shifted the conversation back to rescuing Irvin.
To Magnus, Irvin didn’t have to be the heir. It wasn’t because he didn’t hold Irvin in regard. It also wasn’t because he didn’t care if Irvin live or died. In fact, if it were possible to rescue Irvin, Magnus still very much wanted to do so.
Many Hardwell branch family members were involved in politics. With Magnus‘ full cooperation, plus William’s and my combined efforts from multiple fronts, the plan quickly reached a boiling point–just as William had laid out.
We hadn’t yet reached the point where Timothy’s entire criminal organization could be destroyed. However, we had already pressured him to the point where he had no choice but to return Irvin, alive.
After listening to his aide’s report, Simon massaged his forehead. He had a splitting headache. He really hadn’t expected that kidnapping me would bring so much trouble to the criminal organization.
Many powerful forces were now coming at them. If this continued, things could turn very grim for the organization. This thought made Simon urgently rush toward Timothy’s office and report the latest news to him.
Timothy let out an incredulous laugh after hearing Simon’s report. Just like Simon, he had never imagined that kidnapping me would lead to such a massive fallout.
Timothy really had underestimated William. He had originally thought that he could hold William off for a few years. But now? Forget years–the organization was already close to collapsing after just over a month.
“Boss, if this keeps up, I’m afraid we’ll be done for,” Simon voiced out.
The criminal organization’s base was heavily fortified and difficult to breach. So, any attempts to totally destroy them would be a daunting task.
Even so, our forces were slowly cutting the organization off from its influences and operations around the world. And once we were done, all that would be left would be this stronghold. It was only a matter of time before the organization fell.
Timothy didn’t need Simon to spell it out. He was also aware that the organization couldn’t continue like this.
Like he had said before, anyone who led a life of crime would never be able to walk away free and would eventually get what was coming to them one day.
This was especially so when, for the past two years, Timothy had grown increasingly arrogant and reckless.
His actions had long caught the attention of some governments across the world, who wanted to take him down. And now that they had all joined forces, the organization really wouldn’t be able to fend them off on its own.
Timothy twirled the gun in his hand for a long while. Eventually, he placed it down and leaned back in his chair.
“Since we can’t hold the line, let’s retreat. We’ll let them take this place down more easily,” he said calmly.

According to Timothy’s original plan, this wasn’t supposed to happen for a long time. However, things rarely went according to plan. Since he had no other choice, it was time to put an end to his game of playing the villain.
Simon was momentarily taken aback. Recovering quickly, he asked, “Boss, do you mean you’re going to pull a fake–out and leave Irvin to take the fall?”
“Yeah,” Timothy replied. “It’s my dear little brother’s time to shine!”
As he spoke, his gaze fell on Irvin, who lay unconscious in bed, his face pale and lifeless. His mouth slowly curled into an evil grin.
