Grace had come in to deliver some documents. And because Timothy was filled with such glee, he immediately pulled her into his arms when he saw her.
“I have some great news to tell you, honey!” he exclaimed.
Seeing how elated he was, Grace naturally thought Irvin had died. After all, as long as Irvin was still alive, they could never truly rest easy. Even if he only had one breath left, there would always be a sliver of risk.
Timothy and Grace would only finally be able to sleep soundly at night if Irvin was dead. Only his death would seal their positions as the head and matriarch of the Hardwell family , respectively.
Just as Grace was about to ask if the news was about Irvin’s death, Timothy unexpectedly said with excitement, “Irvin’s awake!” Grace’s words abruptly caught in her throat. She stared at Timothy in disbelief, unable to comprehend what he was thinking. How could Irvin’s regaining consciousness be considered great news? Shouldn’t it be disastrous instead?
Timothy chuckled when he saw Grace’s disbelieving expression. “There’s no need to worry that Irvin still being alive will pose a threat to us. He’s a wanted criminal, remember? It’ll be nearly impossible for him to clear his name, so he can forget about making a move against me.
“And even if Irvin was innocent, he had been discarded by the Hardwell family as a baby. He had no right to challenge my position in the family! I’m not someone he can shake so easily, either.”
In the past, Grace would’ve definitely agreed with Timothy. She would’ve felt that things would’ve been just as he had said.
She would’ve also believed it wouldn’t matter if Irvin was still alive and innocent. Someone like him, who the Hardwells had abandoned since birth, wouldn’t have the right or means to threaten Timothy.
However, Grace was different now. After spending time with Irvin, she had come to realize that he must never be underestimated, especially now that he was working with William. With the two of them together, things could end in utter ruin if she and Timothy didn’t take them seriously.
“Irvin might not be much of a threat alone,” she said. “However , he’s working with William because of Emilia. And William is no easy opponent.”
Knowing exactly what she was worried about, Timothy laughed confidently and said, “Don’t worry. I’m not underestimating them. They just really aren’t worth fearing.”
Grace couldn’t help pursing her lips as she took in Timothy’s lofty and arrogant behavior. She wondered that if Irvin and William weren’t a threat, then why was he forced to cut short his fun and return to the Hardwells?
As though reading her mind, Timothy let out a cold snort, “Before, misjudged what those two could do when they joined forces. That’s why I sped up my plan. But I won’t make the same mistake twice.
“Right now, Irvin has no authority in the Hardwell family. He’s nothing. So, even though he’s still working with William, they’re not nearly as dangerous as before. Besides , I’ve also teamed up with William’s nemesis. So, he’s got nothing but death waiting for him too,” he revealed.
William might be powerful, but in this world, there was always someone stronger. There were plenty of people out there who
were more formidable than he.
As the saying went, the enemy of my enemy was my friend. Following this logic, Timothy had swiftly sought out William’s most
