Timothy looked at Grace and said, “You’ve been screwed over too badly by Irvin and William. The Kellers are already a bottomless pit right now. It’s not something I can fix , even if I wanted to. I think you should give up and just rest at home since you’re pregnant.”
The Kellers were indeed a bottomless pit right now. Even if he poured half of the Hardwell family’s fortune in, it wouldn’t make
a difference.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t even bother to save the Kellers , much less now. Trying to save them would only ensure they were all doomed.
Grace wanted to beg him desperately, but after calming down, she knew it was pointless. No matter how much she pleaded, he wouldn’t help her.
In fact, the more she thought about it, the more she realized she didn’t want Timothy to save the Kellers either.
The amount of money they needed was massive, so much that it could shake the very foundation of the Hardwell family.
With Irvin and William already joining forces against Timothy, he needed allies to survive. The Kellers would only drag him down.
She couldn’t let him lose. If the Kellers collapsed, she would lose everything, but at least she’d still be alive with her children.
But if Timothy lost, Irvin would never let her walk away alive. She would lose her life for sure. And nothing was more important than being alive.
She could only stand there and watch everything crumble, despite all she had fought and schemed for. In the end, there was nothing she could do as all her hard work vanished into nothing.
The grief and sorrow overwhelmed her, and tears streamed uncontrollably down her cheeks.
She didn’t understand why life had to be so cruel. All she had wanted was to work harder and live a better life. Why did everything fall apart like this?
Why did others live such an easy life, while she had to struggle so hard? What had she done wrong? Why was life treating her like this?
The more she thought about it, the more unbearable it became, and she completely broke down in tears. Her life was just too
hard.
Devastated and lost all rationality, she turned to Timothy and cried, “Why? Timothy, tell me why! Why did this happen when all I wanted was a better life?
“Why does everyone want to hurt me? Especially William! I saved his life! I was his savior! Not only did he not repay me, but he is out to destroy me!
“Everyone thought I hit the jackpot with the project! Everyone! I double–checked everything over and over again! Why? Why did it turn out like this?”
The more she thought about it, the more she spiraled. She truly had no idea how things ended up this way.
Since they were husband and wife, seeing her lose her mind like this, Timothy couldn’t help but feel a bit of pity.
He said, “He probably found out that you didn’t actually save his life. William may not be a good man, but if he believed you were his savior, he wouldn’t have hurt you.”
Upon hearing this, she suddenly recalled the look William had given her the last time they met. She broke out into laughter amidst her tears.
She laughed at how foolishly she had believed she was in control, only to end up destroying herself in the end.
