Agatha tried to use the Hardwells‘ power and influence to pressure the officers.
But before Officer Lawson could say a word, Magnus stormed in and barked, “Shut your mouth!”
He strode over in large, heavy steps. Grabbing Agatha by the arm, he yanked her to his side. Then, in a voice low enough only for her to hear, he growled, “Do you even know what you’re saying? Are you trying to drag the entire Hardwell family down with you? He committed unforgivable crimes!”
Magnus wasn’t about to use the Hardwells‘ influence or network to protect Timothy. Even if he wanted to, there wasn’t a single person willing to risk their future, compromise their beliefs, or ruin their name to save a criminal like Timothy.
Agatha didn’t believe any of that noble–sounding nonsense. She was sure Magnus was doing this to get back at them for taking control of the company. That was why he refused to help Timothy.
She felt like screaming. She wanted to point a finger right in his face, curse him out, call him heartless , call him a failure as a father. However, she held it in, knowing this wasn’t the time.
Right now, all that mattered was saving Timothy.
So instead, she just went straight for the jugular. “Magnus,” she said coldly, “if anything happens to Tim , you’re going down with him. Don’t forget that Tim holds 55% of Hardwell Group’s shares. If he’s convicted, the whole company goes down with him!”
If Timothy got convicted, with the severity of his crimes, he’d have all his assets seized. That would mean the collapse of Hardwell Group.
“That’s none of your concern,” Magnus replied flatly.
He already knew the consequences. And he’d made all the necessary preparations long ago. That was the only reason he’d agreed to work with Irvin to bring Timothy down.
Otherwise, with Timothy’s instincts and how well–connected he was, there was no way he could’ve been caught off guard like
this.
Magnus had held his position at the top for years and thrived. He wasn’t someone others could just push out of power because they wanted to. If he were that easy to take down, it would’ve happened long ago.
Irvin had said working with Magnus would make everything smoother. But it didn’t just make things smoother, it made them unstoppable.
Magnus’s connections and influence were second to none.
Agatha had been on high alert ever since Timothy returned. She immediately sensed something was wrong.
When she realized what Magnus had just implied, she snapped, “Don’t think for a second I won’t actually throw you in prison, Magnus!”
Magnus gave a cold, mocking laugh. “Do you think you can send me to prison with the evidence you’ve got? If it could, would I still be standing here?”
He’d used his time in the shadows well. And more importantly, what he did back then wasn’t some monstrous crime.
He’d been set up and trapped in someone else’s scheme. That was how he’d been able to flip it around and use it to make amends.
Agatha’s face instantly went pale.
They’d been married for so many years, and she knew him well. Seeing that he could talk about it so calmly, it was obvious that the evidence she had on him was nothing more than useless scraps

Her body shook as she grabbed his arm hard, desperation spilling ut of her voice. “Magnus, you can’t do this! Tim is your son! You raised him yourself and poured everything you had into him!
“It was my fault he forced you to hand over the company. That was my idea, not his. If you’re going to blame someone, blame me! I don’t mind being the scapegoat. Even if you want me dead , I listen to you!
“But don’t punish Tim or abandon him. You’ve spent a lot of effort raising him!”
