Irvin thought that Mom was just like his mother, Lizzie , so blindly biased that she didn’t even think she was wrong.
No matter what others said to her, it was useless. So he didn’t say a word. He just signaled his assistant to block Mom behind him, then turned and walked away without looking back.
Mom never expected Irvin to treat her like that. He had always been respectful and polite to them despite my relationship with them.
But now, he wouldn’t even say a single word, making her feel like she was some unimportant piece of trash. That was something she simply couldn’t accept.
“Irvin, you can’t just walk away like this!” she shouted. “You can’t be so rude to me, and you can’t just abandon Lianne! Don’t forget that if it wasn’t for Lianne pulling you out when you were a kid, you’d be dead by now!”
But no matter how much she yelled, no matter how she brought up what Julianne did for him as a child, he didn’t even slow down, let alone look back.
Watching him disappear without a backward glance, completely out of her sight, Mom collapsed to the ground, her mind buzzing, utterly lost about what to think or what to do next.
Matthew knew about the complicated relationship between me, Mom, and Julianne.
Seeing Mom begging so desperately for her adopted daughter while completely neglecting her biological daughter, he didn’t feel an ounce of pity for her. In fact, he thought Mom wasn’t pitiful enough and that someone like her deserved to be even more miserable.
After Irvin refused Mom and decided not to get involved with Julianne anymore, someone else came to find him. They told him that Julianne wanted to see him, asking him to go, no matter what.
He frowned while looking at the person in front of him. He thought that Julianne had come a long way over the years that she could now send someone of this status to deliver a message for her
But no matter how capable Julianne was or who she sent to convey her message, he was done dealing with anything to do with her.
Just as he was about to refuse, the man who looked well–off in a suit said, “Mr. Sawyer, all you have to do is see her once. You don’t have to promise to help her with anything.”
The implication was clear. He was just there to deliver Julianne’s request. Whether Irvin would help or not had nothing to do with him.
“I hope you can do me this favor, Mr. Sawyer.”
Though Irvin wanted to refuse, thinking about the man’s status, he finally agreed to see Julianne. After said, he wasn’t going to help her anymore.

Seeing her once to pay Stansfield Kennedy some respect and smooth the upcoming business talks wouldn’t hurt.
Hence, he went to see Julianne.
Julianne, who had been used to a life of luxury, was now suffering in the holding cell. It was like a living hell.
She’d rather die than be locked up and endure this torment. She’d even tried to kill herself several times, but couldn’t bring herself to go through with it.
She still held on to the hope of surviving and enjoying a good life afterward. She had a lot of money saved in a Sorosis Bank. As long as she could escape alive, she could live the rest of her life very comfortably.
So , she used every connection she had to try and fake her own death and get out of the holding cell.
