This was a high–end private hospital, so the staff here were accustomed to wealthy patients. Whenever they successfully treated such patients, it wasn’t uncommon for their family to show their appreciation in a generous gesture.
This was especially common in the obstetrics department, where grateful families would often give Tavish gifts after a delivery. However, none of them had ever encountered anyone who was as extravagant as Irvin, who rewarded the entire hospital staff with a house each.
He truly was deserving of being called a rich man.
And because of this generosity, the hospital staff cared for me and he twins even more attentively. In fact , in many ways , they were more meticulous about the twins than I was as their mother.
Newborn babies grew like sprouting beans during the postpartum period, looking different every day. In just a few days , the two wrinkly little ones had turned fair and plump.
Gone were the wrinkled faces that didn’t resemble anyone. Now, they had become adorable little darlings that everyone couldn’t resist loving.
The twins were growing very well too. They had inherited mine and Irvin’s best features. Even though their looks hadn’t fully matured yet, they were already capturing hearts. Everyone was already saying they would be exceptionally good–looking once they grew up.
If strangers already adored them so much, it was nothing compared to how much their own father loved them.
Irvin honestly didn’t want to do anything else but hold our precious twins every day. However, he couldn’t just ignore his responsibilities , especially whenever he looked at our baby girl.
He would be overcome with the urge to become the richest man in the world, just so no one would dare to even think of bullying our precious daughter.
Now that Irvin had a daughter, every time he thought back to how he had treated me, he couldn’t help picturing it happening to her instead. And when he did, the thought made him so furious that he wanted to strangle his past self.
If anyone dared to treat our daughter the way he once treated me, he would never forgive them. Irvin would also personally send them straight to hell.
The more he empathized with the pain I had gone through, the more he realized how much of a scumbag he had been. He no longer dared to beg for that minuscule change of forgiveness. All he wanted now was to spend the rest of his life atoning for his
mistakes.
Newborns spend most of their time sleeping. Whenever the twins were asleep, Irvin would attend to me in every possible way.
It was to the point where the elite postpartum nanny I had hired couldn’t help but feel humbled. She even felt he was more professional than she was.
The current Irvin was like a cash cow that also worked hard without complaint. In the past, I wouldn’t be able to keep from feeling annoyed whenever I looked at him. But now, that urge had disappeared.
Cordelia had always despised him most. But after a day of watching him behaving like this, even she found herself saying, “Irvin seems really pitiful right now.”
The words had barely left her mouth when she froze. Her eyes widened in disbelief. “Wait–what did I just say?”
Cordelia was taken aback. She couldn’t believe that she, of all people, had just spoken up for Irvin.
He was the man she hated most in the entire world. There was a time when she had wished nothing more than for Irvin to die. And now, she had actually said he was pitiful?
Cordelia was shocked. She wondered if she had gone crazy. How could she possibly feel sorry for Irvin? And yet, she couldn’t keep a quiet voice from echoing in her heart. “Irvin really does look pitiful now.”

That voice made her shake her head fervently. She felt terrified by what she was thinking. No matter what Irvin was like now, the things he had done in the past were truly awful.
Someone like him didn’t deserve forgiveness, no matter what.
Just as Cordelia locked onto that conviction, another voice sounded in her mind against her will, challenging her.
