That moment felt like a glimmer of hope to him. He took a large step forward and firmly grasped my shoulders again. “ Emi, you lost your memory, didn’t you?”
Irvin gathered that I must have lost my memory. That was why I’d forgotten him, my husband whom I’d loved the most. That would explain why I was so determined to divorce him. That was why I didn’t care about him and Julianne getting a room together–the only thing I was concerned with was clearing his name.
I frowned, unsure why he was suddenly asking this question. He’d previously refused to believe me when I said I had amnesia. But then , he now seemed to desperately hope I would confirm it.
I didn’t want to know either. I only wanted our divorce proceedings to go as smoothly as possible.
So, I said to him, “ I didn’t lose my memory. I just wanted to cause scene to see if you’d care about me more previously. The answer I got was that you didn’t care at all whether I lived or died. All you cared about was forcing me to apologize to your precious Lianne.
“And when it came down to saving either me or Julianne from drowning, you chose her and left me to die. That was when I completely gave up on you.”
Upon hearing my words, Irvin’s face went deathly pale. He opened his mouth as if to say something , but after a few failed attempts, he turned and walked away without a word.
I didn’t care what was going through his mind. All I cared about now was securing my share of the money.
As he walked away, I called out loudly to his retreating back, “Don’t forget to get the appropriate PR work done as soon as possible!”
I wasn’t sure if it was my imagination, but his steps seemed to stagger slightly as he left.
Since this matter concerned my financial interests, I kept a close eye on the online chatter after Irvin left. If his company’s stock price began to drop, I was prepared to step in and stabilize it regardless of what he planned to do.
I would ensure that the amount I had calculated as my share in the divorce settlement wouldn’t be reduced by even a cent!
I had thought that no matter how much Irvin disliked contradicting himself and no matter how reluctant he was to admit fault after repeatedly insisting that nothing had happened between him and Julianne, he would ultimately choose my suggested PR
strategy.
But to my surprise, he launched his PR response quickly. He presented a wealth of evidence to prove that nothing had happened between him and Julianne the previous night.
The rumors about loud lovemaking noises that made even the neighboring guests feel embarrassed were all fabricated. He explained that Julianne had been feeling unwell, and he had stayed in the room with his medical team to care for her.

He even released several surveillance recordings showing that the room had indeed been filled with a group of people. It wasn’t just him and Julianne in there.
Moreover, it seemed he had paid to remove the trending topic, as the scandal disappeared in no time. It was like a small pebble that had dropped into a lake, creating only a brief ripple before vanishing entirely.
I was genuinely surprised that, as he’d claimed, nothing had happened between him and Julianne.
Setting aside the fact that they were clearly interested in each other and seemed like a natural pair, the photos from the news coverage suggested something unusual.
Even if nothing had occurred between them before, surely last night would have changed that. On top of that , even if Irvin truly had no romantic or sexual feelings for Julianne and saw her only as a sister, Julianne wouldn’t have missed such a good chance to take things further.
