Serenity’s conversation with Jasmine was suddenly cut short. Upon spotting her sister and nephew entering, she quickly paused her work, rose to her feet, and moved around the cashier counter.
However, Jasmine was even quicker. She had already scooped up the adorable Sonny, showering him with hugs and kisses. Jasmine lifted him high into the air, eliciting giggles from the little boy.
“Liberty, what brings you here?” Serenity asked, noting the time. It was past ten o’clock, a time when Liberty would typically be at home preparing lunch. If Hank returned from work to find no meal ready, he would likely voice his complaints.
“I was feeling a bit bored at home, so I thought I’d come over for a visit. Sonny was also fussing because he wanted to see you,” Liberty explained.

“Isn’t it time for you to start cooking, Liberty?” Serenity inquired. She didn’t believe it was solely her sister’s responsibility to cook for her brother-in-law, but she was curious since most people had lunch around noon.
“I fed Sonny before coming here and brought his milk powder, so he can play here until the afternoon. I can either order takeout with you later or head to the nearby market to grab some ingredients and cook for you girls in your cozy kitchen,” Liberty replied.
“As for your brother-in-law… I’ve already measured out the pasta and filled a pot with water for him. All he needs to do is boil it when he gets home. I’ve also washed some vegetables and set them aside in the kitchen. He can blanch or stir-fry them, as far as I’m concerned p>

Liberty felt heartbroken over her husband’s recent actions. As a result, she had taken a firm stance on the idea of splitting responsibilities, hoping to send a message to Hank. She wanted to ensure that he would think twice before using this arrangement to control or threaten her in the future.
