“I received my salary today. I’ll wire you the living expenses later. Use it for food and other necessities. Don’t be too frugal,” Zachary said.
“It’s alright. We still have a significant amount left from the hundred thousand dollars you gave me last time. We’ve kept our household expenses low, so not much of that money has been spent,” she replied.
The furniture cost tens of thousands, but that was a one-time purchase.
The remaining amount could sustain the household for several months. Besides, Serenity wasn’t planning to spend his money all the time.
“Just save the unused portion. Men can be careless with their spending. Keep the money I’ve wired to you as an emergency fund. Otherwise, I’ll end up spending all my money,” he advised.

The money Zachary sent her each month would be saved and documented. This would make it easier to divide the funds should they go through a divorce.

“I might be home late tonight. Just leave the door unlocked for me. No need to wait up,” he replied. Serenity had never stayed up waiting for his return, but Zachary felt it necessary to mention it.
“Sure.” Without another word, Serenity ended the call.
Zachary understood Serenity’s perspective. She didn’t mind whether he came home early or late.
Sigh. This was part of the agreement they signed; she wasn’t allowed to interfere in his affairs.
After taking a moment for himself, Zachary transferred twenty thousand dollars to her mobile device.
Serenity accepted the transaction.
With Serenity receiving the money, Zachary felt an improvement in his mood.
The husband earned the money while the wife managed the spending. Serenity slumped over the cash register for a quick nap, catching some much-needed rest before pulling out her tools and materials to begin her craftwork.
A while later, the sound of a car pulling up outside broke the silence. As the sharp clicking of high heels approached, Serenity turned her head toward the noise.
“Ms. Stone?” she exclaimed in surprise. It was Elisa.
Elisa had planned a beach vacation with her mother but suddenly thought of Serenity. She wanted to catch up with her before the holidays, as Serenity had left a lasting impression on her. Elisa felt a strong desire to connect more with Serenity.
“I finally found you,” Elisa said, handing over a bag. “I’ve been waiting for you to reach out, but I never heard from you. I found this place through your rather eccentric relatives. This is a little something for you p>
Inside was an expensive skincare set.
Serenity accepted the gift without hesitation, smiling as she said, “You’re too kind, Ms. Stone. Feel free to visit me anytime, but you really didn’t have to bring me a gift p>
“Please don’t take it the wrong way. I bought an extra set that I didn’t need, so I thought I’d share it with you,” Elisa explained.
In reality, Elisa had just purchased the gift. She fabricated that story in case Serenity hesitated to accept something so expensive, not wanting her to feel obligated to reciprocate. To Elisa, the skincare set was merely a small gesture; while it might be costly for ordinary people, it didn’t hold much value in her eyes.
