Serenity drove to the shop and noticed a familiar car parked out front—it was Shawn.
Shawn had stopped by to deliver food to his cousin once again. This time, instead of breakfast, he brought pastries made by his family’s personal chef. He claimed the pastries were too much for his family to finish, so he came to share them with his cousin.
Jasmine didn’t think much of his excuse, knowing that she and Serenity would never turn down food. Additionally, she was aware that all the pastries at the Lowes were freshly baked every day.
Since Shawn had brought them, Jasmine indulged in quite a few pastries.
Concerned that his cousin would finish them all before Serenity arrived at the shop, Shawn looked outside and asked, “Jas, is Serenity coming today p>
“She will, but a little later,” Jasmine replied casually.
Living close to the shop, Jasmine typically set things up and managed business in the morning, while Serenity was responsible for watching the shop at night.
“There’s a difference between a married woman and a single one. Serenity used to help with house chores, cooking, and grocery shopping before her brother-in-law started nitpicking when she lived at her sister’s house. Not much has changed since her marriage; she always keeps herself busy p>
Jasmine glanced at her cousin and smiled, saying, “Don’t worry about me finishing the pastries. I can eat, but I can’t eat everything at once. I’ll save some for Serenity p>
Reading his mind, Shawn blushed slightly and responded, “Serenity loves pastries. My family’s chef learned some techniques from Beans and Cream and experimented at home. I think the food tastes even better now p>
“The food at Beans and Cream is indeed delicious,” Jasmine agreed.
The date was not a success, but Jasmine still enjoyed a delicious meal because the pastries were absolutely delightful. Hearing a car pull up, Jasmine asked her cousin, “Can you see who’s there p>
“Oh.” Shawn spotted Serenity getting out of the car as he walked outside. With a smile, he said, “When did you get a car, Serenity p>
“It was purchased a while ago, but I haven’t been driving it. My sister is out looking for a job today, so she asked me to watch Sonny. I thought it would be safer to take the car instead of the bike p>
“Aren’t you working today, Shawn p>
“Yeah, I am. I stopped by to deliver some pastries that the chef baked. You girls can have a little taste. I’m heading to the office soon. Serenity, about tomorrow’s lunch p>
“Don’t worry, I’m not backing out of treating you to lunch. Be there or be square p>
Tomorrow is Saturday.
She promised to treat Shawn to lunch as a thank-you for driving her home and fixing her e-bike.
Shawn replied with a grin, “I wasn’t worried about you going back on your promise. I was just concerned you might be too busy and want to reschedule, that’s all p>

As Serenity grabbed the diaper bag, Shawn came over to help her.

After expressing her gratitude, Serenity reached into the backseat to lift her nephew out. She complimented the little guy, saying, “You’re such a good boy, Sonny. You didn’t fuss or cry. Let me give you a kiss p>
She then placed a smooch on his cheek.
Shawn felt a pang of envy, wondering when he would receive a kiss from Serenity, too.

Serenity introduced her nephew to Shawn.
“Hello, Shan,” Sonny greeted Shawn in his cute little voice.
Staring at the innocent, adorable child,
was already delicious,” Jasmine remarked, “so I can only imagine how good these must be if your family’s chef has improved on them p>
