“That reminds me. I need to talk to you about something,” Serenity said, shifting the topic.
From the cheerful tone in her voice, Zachary realized that his silence hadn’t frustrated her. Oddly enough, it unsettled him that she wasn’t upset.
“What is it?” he asked.
“Nana wants to stay at our place this weekend. She asked me to discuss it with you, just in case you might say no. Since you’re her grandson, I figured you’d be okay with it.” Grandma May simply didn’t want to intrude on their couple time.
However, that notion was purely in Grandma May’s mind.
There was no real couple time between Zachary and Serenity; they were merely married on paper. During the day, they were both busy with their own activities.
At night, they slept in separate beds.
They only interacted when necessary, and otherwise had little opportunity to talk.
Serenity thought it would be a matter of convenience, and now it was exactly as she had envisioned.
She had a small crush on Zachary, but his silence after picking him up from work had extinguished her feelings.
It was best to stick to the six-month contract.
In five months, she would be single again.
Zachary was not keen on having Nana over. She was crafty and loved to play tricks on her grandchildren.
Knowing that he and Serenity were only husband and wife in name, Nana would likely try to get them to share a bed.
“We have our own plans for the weekend. Neither of us has the time to keep Nana company. She might as well stay at her own house. Her sons and daughters-in-law are retired and can spend time with her,” Zachary reasoned.
As he spoke, Serenity tilted her head and listened.
He looked at her. It was no surprise that Nana kept urging her to discuss it with Zachary rather than making the decision herself. The guy preferred that his Nana didn’t visit his home.
“Don’t you want Nana to stay for a couple of days? It’s just two days. She mentioned she’d only arrive in the afternoon if she comes. I don’t think it’s a big deal for her to stay at our place. She used to hang around my shop, and she could come with me if she stays over p>
“Mr. York, she’s your Nana. Your grandmother p>
Zachary thought, ‘Do you really think I’d marry you if Nana hadn’t asked?’ However, he replied, “I’m not saying Nana can’t come. Alright, I’ll call her to discuss this later p>
Serenity remained quiet for a moment before asking, “Mr. York, is your relationship with Nana… um… not so good? Don’t you think it’s a bit too quiet at our place? It would be livelier with another person in the house p>
Nana was quite fun-loving, and Serenity believed her presence would bring some energy to the home. “I moved out to enjoy the peace and quiet p>
After a brief pause, Serenity said, “Okay then. You should talk to Nana. You make the call p>
“I still think our place is too quiet. If she comes, Nana will only stay for a couple of days. Mr. York, can I get two dogs and two cats to join the family p>
Turning his head, Zachary glanced at her before returning his gaze to the road. He replied softly, “Dogs and cats can’t speak human language. Plus, they can damage the house, shed fur, and mess everywhere. I dislike it. However, I have no issue with you having pets as long as you keep them confined p>
