Hank extended his right hand to shake Shawn’s hand.
During the handshake, Shawn commented, “I believe I’ve heard your name before, Mr. Brown p>
Hank’s name sounded familiar to him.
Hank felt flattered. “Have you heard of me, Mr. Lowe p>
It was a pleasant surprise for Hank to realize that he had made a name for himself among professionals to the extent that the unfamiliar Mr. Lowe had recognized him.
Shawn grinned and replied, “Your name rings a bell. I must have heard it from someone, but I’ve never met you in person. Well, that’s changed tonight p>
Hank quickly retrieved his business card and handed it to Shawn. With a smile, he said, “Mr. Lowe, it’s an honor to meet you. Here’s my business card. I look forward to the opportunity to work with you p>
Shawn glanced at the business card before putting it away.
His gaze then shifted to Jessica, who wore a broad smile. Although she was stunning, Shawn only gave her a brief glance before looking away.
In Shawn’s eyes, the best woman was Serenity; he had eyes only for her. As the group gestured for Shawn to sit down, everyone began drinking and discussing business, leading to a pleasant conversation.
Liberty emerged from a baby shop after purchasing formula and diapers. While the formula was stored in the stroller, there were too many packs of diapers to fit in it.
The shopkeeper had informed her of a buy-five-get-one-free offer on diapers, so Liberty ended up buying six packs.
The stroller wasn’t designed for much storage.
Frustrated, Liberty redialed Hank’s number.
Hank did not answer her call.
After multiple attempts, he finally picked up on her sixth call.
“What’s up, Liberty? Don’t you p>
“Do you know how busy I am? Do you think I work in customer service and can take your calls 24/7? Don’t call me again unless it’s an emergency. It’s disrupting my work p>
“When are you coming back p>
Ignoring his criticisms, Liberty moved past his question and continued with her own.
“Not anytime soon. What do you need? I’ll hang up if there’s nothing else p>
“I bought formula and diapers, but I can’t carry them back. I was hoping you could pick me and Sonny up on your way p>
Hank snapped back irritably, “It’s your fault for buying so much. You should only get what you can carry. I’m busy and don’t have time to pick you up. Can’t you call your sister? Didn’t she just get a new car? Have her come get you p>
He then ended the call.
Since Serenity’s husband worked at York Corporation, he must have a good salary. Just over a month into their marriage, Zachary had bought Serenity a car and paid for it in full. Hank thought it was great that his sister-in-law had a car, as it meant Serenity could drive Liberty and Sonny around. That way, Liberty wouldn’t need to bother him for help, which was annoying. After her husband hung up, Liberty paused for a moment but didn’t call her sister. She placed four packs of diapers on the stroller and carried two more by hand while struggling to push her son in the stroller forward.
The small stroller served as a makeshift wagon.
The mother and son attracted a lot of attention on the streets.
It wasn’t long before Liberty became exhausted.
Her thoughts drifted back to when she had just gotten married. No matter where she was or what she was doing, Hank would drop everything to pick her up with just a phone call.
Now, he hung up on her whenever she reached out for help.
Lost in thought, Liberty didn’t notice the pavement and crashed the stroller into a brick. Only God knew who had left the brick there, and no one cared to move it. The stroller was overloaded, and with Liberty holding it up with one hand, it tipped to the side. Sonny fell to the ground and began to cry.
