Olivia felt a twinge of concern for her grandson after what had happened and his return home.
Her other grandson had fallen ill, which had disrupted the entire family’s peace. Just dealing with his recurring fever was enough to cause worry for everyone.
Sonny was a year younger than Lucas. If he had also fallen sick, the family would have faced even greater distress.
“He should be fine. I didn’t go home, so I didn’t see Sonny, but I did see Liberty in the neighborhood on her way to work, acting normally p>
After enduring a night of suffering, during which both he and Jessica were involved, Liberty was still able to go to work as if nothing had happened.
He was okay. Jessica, however, remained holed up in the hotel, too frightened to face anyone because the handprint on her face had yet to fade.
Last night, after Liberty and her sister left, Jessica had hugged him tightly and cried for a long time, claiming it was his fault that she had to endure such humiliation, which stirred feelings of pity within him.
This only reinforced his desire to divorce Liberty.
“That’s good to hear. I won’t have to worry then. I didn’t feel great about what I did either. Regardless of everything, Sonny is still my biological grandson. It’s that mother of his who is cruel. He’s still so young, yet she leaves him to go to work p>
Olivia placed all the blame squarely on Liberty.
“Hank, tell me why you want to divorce her right away p>
Hank took two puffs of his cigarette and then looked at his parents with a hint of embarrassment. “Jessica and I stayed the night at a hotel last night. Liberty called me, and because Jessica thought Liberty had something urgent to tell me, she answered the call on my behalf p>
She brought her sister along, and the two of them blocked Jessica and me as we tried to leave.
“We fought fiercely, and Liberty hit Jessica really hard. Even now, she won’t leave the hotel or meet anyone! Mom, I can’t stay with Liberty any longer. I can’t even bear another day! I want a divorce p>
Hank’s parents were left speechless.
Mr. Brown suddenly stood up and swung his fist at Hank.
Hank was taken by surprise when his father hit him, and he took the blow squarely.

Olivia quickly set Lucas down and got up to pull her husband away. She intervened to prevent him from continuing and explained, “Last time, Hank said he no longer loved Liberty; he just hadn’t mentioned divorce for Sonny’s sake. Given her current state, Liberty isn’t a suitable match for Hank anymore p>
“Am I wrong to discipline him for abandoning his family p>
Mr. Brown added angrily, “What will happen to Sonny if they divorce now? Sonny is our precious grandson p>
That punch was not a result of blaming Hank for having an affair or betraying his marriage, but rather a reaction to his impatience and lack of consideration for his grandson.
“Sonny will definitely come to me. He’s my son! Liberty isn’t capable of raising him anyway. Dad, don’t worry; I won’t let you lose your grandson. When the time comes, if you don’t want to live with me, I’ll send Sonny over. You’re already raising Lucas, so caring for Sonny will be the same, and the cousins will have each other for company.
“Once Sonny starts kindergarten, he can go with Lucas. Dad, Mom, put your worries aside. Liberty definitely can’t gain custody of Sonny p>

She had only just begun working a few days ago and hadn’t even received her first paycheck. How could she possibly measure up to him? He had already enlisted someone to assist him in visiting Lewis & Co. to determine Liberty’s position and devise a way to turn her colleagues against her, aiming for her to make a mistake at work that would lead to her dismissal. Although Serenity was willing to support her sister, her earnings would not be sufficient to help Liberty fight for custody of Sonny. Hank was completely unconcerned about the possibility of Sonny ending up in Liberty’s custody. Even though he lacked both the time and inclination to be involved in his son’s life, he would prefer to send Sonny back to his old home for his parents to raise rather than allow Liberty to have him.
