“Nana, I took the day off today. After breakfast, we’ll pick Sonny up at Bright Boulevard. I’m taking all of you to a resort in the west suburbs for a stroll and some fresh air p>
Ignoring Nana’s glare, Zachary stepped closer and explained his reason for being at home.
He went to assist Serenity with her belongings, and together they carried the bed linens into the vacant guest room.
When he finished speaking, Grandma May inquired, “For how long?” “Just one day,” he replied.
“It’s a resort, and one day isn’t enough to enjoy ourselves. Since you took today off and tomorrow is the weekend, we could have a nice three-day vacation at the resort,” she suggested.
Zachary glanced at Serenity before responding calmly, “Liberty is finalizing her divorce with Hank tomorrow. As her family, we need to support her. We can’t allow the Browns to take advantage of her p>
Serenity looked at him with gratitude.
Grandma May was pleased that her grandson was understanding this love game.
Zachary referred to Liberty as family and spoke in a caring manner. Serenity gazed at him with heart-shaped eyes. Not bad at all. Grandma May could foresee a great-granddaughter if Zachary maintained this behavior.
“You make a good point. We should all go; there’s strength in numbers. We can confront them together. The Browns aren’t intimidating,” she said.
“Absolutely.” Zachary welcomed Nana’s involvement. She had been quite formidable in her younger days. Although she was older now and couldn’t fight as she once did, Zachary believed no one could out-argue Nana.
Liberty’s mother-in-law and sister-in-law were outrageous. The best way to handle them in a dispute was to have an elder like Nana step in.
Grandma May understood the situation better than the younger generation. “These individuals often pass their assets to their family. I have an old friend whose grandchildren work at a bank. Just let me know, and I can call in a favor to see if Hank has transferred his wealth to any family members p>
