Zachary got out of the car and suddenly remembered something. He turned back and retrieved a bouquet of flowers from the vehicle. “Seren,” he called out, using a different tone when addressing her. The sight of the bouquet reminded Serenity of how awkward he had been the first time he gave her flowers, a moment filled with her own anxiety. He had handed her that bouquet, insisting it didn’t mean anything special.
Serenity felt pleased by his stubbornness and arrogance, seeing it as evidence that he had never been in a relationship before.
