Mr. Brown sat silently on the sofa, smoking his cigarette.
Next to him was his packed luggage.
Olivia glanced at her husband and opened her mouth to speak but hesitated and then fell silent again.
Hank did not dare to utter a single word.
Upon arriving at his sister’s house, his anger diminished somewhat when he witnessed his oldest nephew being disciplined quite harshly by his brother-in-law.
“Dad,” his daughter called out.
“Be quiet,” Mr. Brown snapped coldly, raising his gaze to glare at her. His frustration only intensified as he noticed his son standing silently nearby. It was clear that Matthew had indeed learned a lesson from his son-in-law.
The swelling on Matthew’s face had significantly reduced after ice was applied. Although some bruising remained, it was hardly noticeable unless one looked closely. The marks left from the belt would also fade away once treated with medicine.
But what about Sonny?
He had mustered the audacity to call his daughter-in-law to inquire about Sonny’s condition. As she exited, she caught sight of Serenity and her husband flanking that venomous old lady from York, helping her as she walked in. Seven or eight tall men trailed behind them, likely Serenity’s in-laws.
