Zachary returned to their cozy home, holding Serenity in his arms.
As soon as he opened the door, their pet dog rushed over.

Zachary let out a low growl, causing the little dog to obediently lie down, not daring to approach any closer.
It was aware that its male owner didn’t have much fondness for it.
Thankfully, Zachary never mistreated it or withheld food and water.
Ring, ring, ring.
Zachary’s phone began to ring.
Still holding Serenity, he couldn’t use his hands to answer it.
The ringing soon stopped.
It was likely a call from Josh. Zachary had instructed him to call every ten minutes, providing a reason for him to leave.
However, that was no longer necessary.
Audrey and her daughter had already departed from Liberty’s home.
He carried Serenity to her room, laid her on the bed, tucked her in with a quilt, and then called Josh.

“I don’t? I was contemplating whether to keep spamming you p>
Zachary’s lips twitched slightly.
“Have you eaten? Would you like to eat together p>
“No. Why aren’t you asking Ms. Sox instead p>
“Wouldn’t it be embarrassing if she turned me down? We exchanged numbers after our meeting, but she hasn’t reached out to me. I’m unsure how she feels about me p>
Zachary paused before adding, “I can now see why my nana feels disappointed in me p>
Josh was taken aback but managed to inquire, “So… Should I ask her out for a meal now p>
“You need to be thick-skinned when pursuing your wife,” he remarked.
“It seems you’ve developed quite a thick skin,” came the reply.
Zachary touched his face. “I haven’t measured, so I’m not sure how thick it is p>
Tosh burst into laughter. “Serenity is definitely the woman I admire most in the world. There’s no one like her p>
“Get lost!” Zachary snapped, ending the call.
He settled at the edge of Serenity’s bed, quietly gazing at her sleeping face. The lines on her face had relaxed. Leaning down, he pressed a kiss to her cheek and whispered softly in her ear, “I admire you too, Serenity. You’ve taken half my soul so easily p>
He gently caressed her face, the tenderness in his eyes unmistakable.
After lingering for a while, he finally left her room.
Serenity slept until evening, waking only due to her hunger.
As she opened her eyes and recognized her surroundings, she recalled falling asleep in the car and being carried back by Zachary.
Where could he be?
Suddenly, the door swung open.
Zachary entered wearing a floral apron, clearly having been busy in the kitchen.
“You’re awake?” he said warmly, walking over to her. The way he looked at her seemed capable of stealing her heart and soul.
How could she have ever thought his eyes were cold and sharp?
“What time is it?” she asked.
“It’s six in the evening,” he replied.
“I slept that long?” She rubbed her stomach. “No wonder I’m feeling hungry p>
Zachary handed her a comb so she could brush her hair and remarked, “You didn’t eat at noon, so it’s only natural that you feel hungry p>
She slept soundly, so he decided not to wake her for lunch.

“No, but I spoke with Mrs. Lane. Sonny doesn’t have a fever anymore; he’s just sleeping p>
Serenity felt relieved. His care and attention to Sonny warmed her heart.
With each passing day, she found it harder not to like him more.
Even if her feelings began with gratitude, the affection she felt for him was genuine.
“Do you want to shower before eating p>
“I’ll shower later. I’m staying at my sister’s tonight p>
