Serenity lacked a powerful ally, but her mother was Mrs. Lowe. The Lowes were significantly wealthier and more influential than Serenity. There was no way she could withstand her mother’s manipulations. The only option left was to leave Wiltspoon.
“I don’t want you to try. You must let go of your feelings for her!” Mrs. Lowe commanded.

Shawn turned pale.
Meanwhile, the Lowes’ chauffeur drove Jasmine to the shop.
Serenity had moved all the display racks into the store, packed her crafting tools and materials, and cleared out the unfinished groceries from the fridge, bagging them along with the snacks.
She was prepared to take everything back to her house.
The shop would remain closed starting tomorrow, reopening after the term break next year.

Thinking of Jim, Serenity replied, “Jim is our designated driver. He’s quite dependable. Even my petty husband admits that. I’ll call him when we’re ready to head home so he can drive us p>
Jasmine responded, “No problem. I have a designated driver, too p>
“Driver on speed dial,” she said.
“My younger brother will wait for us at Neon Nights. He has alcohol intolerance, so he won’t be drinking. He’ll stick around even if we become a drunken mess p>
“We girls need to learn to protect ourselves when drinking in places like that; anything can happen when we’re intoxicated p>
Jasmine rarely frequented bars. When she wanted to drink her problems away, she would call her brother or cousins to join her.
This way, Jasmine could let loose without worrying about someone taking advantage of her in her drunken state.
“That’s some good thinking,” Serenity praised her best friend.
Although she had no brothers, she suspected her cousins would abandon her if she ever got wasted with them.
