Zachary slowly started to wake up.
As he opened his eyes, he feigned confusion, acting as if he couldn’t believe Serenity was there. He lifted his free hand to rub his eyes and mumbled, “Is the fever messing with my mind? Am I seeing things? Why is my Seren here p>
Serenity gently pulled his arm away from his face and pinched his hand firmly.

“Does that hurt?” Serenity asked.
Zachary put on his best puppy-dog eyes. “It hurts. It really hurts p>
“It’s good that you felt that pain. You’re not dreaming; this is real. I told you I would come if you didn’t see a doctor p>
Zachary attempted to sit up.
“Lie back down. You’re in a hospital, and you still have a fever. I don’t understand why you want to push through this p>
Serenity gently pressed him back down. “Now, lie down. How do you feel p>
“My temperature has decreased but isn’t normal yet. My throat is sore, and my voice is hoarse. Cough, cough p>
Zachary cleared his throat.
“I’m starting to cough. Seren, could you ask the nurse for a mask? I have a viral cold, and I don’t want you to catch it p>
He reached up to press the call button above his head. When the nurse responded, he said, “Could you bring me two masks p>
“Why do you need the masks?” the nurse asked.
Zachary replied in a raspy voice, “I have the viral flu, and my wife is here to take care of me. Could you please give her a mask too p>
“My wife? I don’t want to spread the flu to her,” Zachary said. The nurse concluded the conversation and soon returned, knocking on the door to deliver two medical masks.
“Thank you,” Serenity said, grateful as she put one on.
Zachary advised, “You should pick up a few more packs of these masks from the pharmacy in the morning. You need to wear one around me until I recover; I don’t want you getting sick while I’m sick p>
“Got it. Is the chicken soup for you?” Serenity asked, noticing the takeaway container. She reached out to touch it and found it still warm.
“It’s mine. Mr. Tank brought it for me. I was asleep and hadn’t eaten,” Zachary replied.
“Do you want to eat it now?” Serenity offered.
Raising his right arm, he said helplessly, “My right hand is still on drips. I can’t really eat with my left p>
Serenity helped him sit up and took out the soup container. “I’ve seen you use utensils with both hands before. You could just admit that you want me to feed you,” she teased.
Zachary’s eyes sparkled. “Did I? I don’t remember. It’s not easy to eat with my hands right now. Seren, I’ll consider the chicken soup gourmet if you feed me p>
“You really should see a doctor next time you’re not feeling well. Work is important, but your health is more important. You work for your boss, and the company isn’t yours. Do you really need to give your boss your life?” Serenity chided as she spooned soup into his mouth.
