Zachary appeared quite pleased as he descended the stairs, humming a tune that anyone nearby could hear.
Although some time had passed since their wedding, Zachary was no longer just Serenity’s husband in name.
He strode into the kitchen and grabbed the apron hanging by the door. After putting it on, he opened the fridge to check for ingredients and took out a few items for the dishes he planned to prepare.
First on his agenda was to make a broth suitable for women after their first time.
He gathered the ingredients and added them to a slow cooker set on high before moving on to the next dish.
After some consideration, he decided to call Sam. Once connected, Zachary instructed, “Sam, please deliver some live shrimp. I don’t see any fresh seafood in the fridge p>
The other dishes were secondary since Serenity’s favorite was shrimp; it was essential to have it.
“Have you and the missus eaten yet p>
Sam felt guilty. “You should have asked Mrs. Lane to prepare dinner in advance p>
“It’s fine. We can eat later. I wasn’t hungry, and Serenity had something to eat at the office earlier p>
“Alright then. I’ll send someone with the live shrimp, and it should arrive in about half an hour p>
Zachary was okay with that; shrimp cooks quickly and only takes seconds. He could start on the other dishes in the meantime.
It had been a while since the esteemed Mr. York had cooked in the kitchen. Humming a song, he prepared the ingredients and cooked several of his best dishes for his wife.
At that moment, Zachary felt immense gratitude for his nana.
He suspected that Nana wanted them to become chefs and win their wives’ hearts through their cooking, believing that once the women tasted the boys’ food, they wouldn’t be able to resist them.
In the kitchen, Zachary lovingly prepared dinner for Serenity while she relaxed in a hot bath, soothing her aching body.
Suddenly, the phone that had been set aside rang. It was her sister.
Serenity quickly answered the call.
“Seren, are you and Zachary home? I was busy and just saw your message now. I’m sorry I didn’t reply sooner p>
“I got back in the afternoon. Have you had dinner, Liberty? Where’s Sonny? I miss him,” she replied.
Liberty smiled as she responded, “I’m carrying Sonny on my back. I haven’t eaten yet; I just returned from the store. I bought groceries and I’m almost home. I’ll make dinner when I get there p>
“What about Mrs. Lane?” Serenity asked.
“I asked Mrs. Lane to look after your place since you and Zachary were away. Someone needs to take care of your pets and garden, and I can manage on my own,” Liberty assured her.
Even though Brnyfield had strict security, Liberty felt uneasy about leaving the house empty, which is why she requested Mrs. Lane to house-sit.
“It’s getting late; Sonny must be starving,” Serenity noted, feeling a twinge of guilt for her sister.
“I made food for Sonny this morning and put it in a thermal container. He had some at the shop, so he’s not too hungry yet,” Liberty replied.
Carrying her son on her back, Liberty ascended the stairs with her groceries. It was tiring, but she had been exercising regularly to lose weight. Running around to set up her shop had also increased her stamina.
She was no longer out of breath from climbing the stairs like she used to be.
“I should let you get on with making dinner p>
“Liberty. I’ll see you tomorrow.” She decided not to go over tonight. “Sure. I’m back at my rented apartment. I’ll start on dinner now.” Liberty paused in front of her place and ended the call. She quickly took out her keys, 1-1276990, to unlock the door before bringing her son inside.
