This chapter explains why Zachary left for a business trip shortly after Serenity took a DNA test with her aunt. Zachary wanted to avoid meeting Aunt Audrey, fearing that his deception might be revealed!
As Serenity recalled moments from their four-month-old marriage, the color drained from her face.
Jasmine noticed Serenity’s hand trembling over the mouse.

Serenity’s reaction startled Jasmine.
Jasmine quickly smacked and shook her friend.
Like a puppet, Serenity remained still and unresponsive, no matter how many times Jasmine tried to catch her attention. Serenity simply stared at Zachary’s enlarged face on the computer screen, lost in a trance.
It was him. It had to be him!
He was her husband. There was no way she could be mistaken about that.
They were a couple who had shared their most intimate moments together. She was beginning to trust him, but it turned out he was a big liar! He had deceived her from the very beginning!

Unable to break her friend out of the trance, Jasmine took out her phone to call Liberty for assistance.
In her flustered state, she struggled to remember Liberty’s contact number and had to scroll through her list one by one to find it.
It took a while for Jasmine to locate Liberty’s new phone number, having scrolled past it several times without noticing.
Serenity was in a dire state.
Her face had gone pale.
Liberty was at her restaurant when she received Jasmine’s call.

Liberty was calling to arrange lunch together at the bookshop. “Where are you now, Liberty? Is this a good time? Hurry over. Something’s wrong with Seren,” Jasmine said urgently.
Turning pale, Liberty rushed to grab her son and dashed out of the restaurant before Jasmine could explain further. She stopped the first car that drove by.
Duncan slammed on the brakes.

Why did she always run into Duncan?
Duncan chuckled, “I should be asking you that! You dashed out with Sonny in your arms and stopped my car without checking who was driving. You hopped in without knowing it was me. You could have been kidnapped if you just get into any car p>
As he spoke, he studied Liberty closely.
It seemed she had lost even more weight over the holidays, her cheeks were slimmer, making her look more attractive.
“Are you free now, Mr. Lewis? Can you drive me to Wiltspoon School? If not, I can call a cab,” Liberty offered.
She didn’t want to take up Duncan’s time; he was a busy man, especially right after the holidays. Balancing her son, she prepared to exit the car.
“Stay put. I’ll drive you there! Just give me the keys to your shop, and I’ll help you lock up,” Duncan insisted.
