Jasmine was left speechless.
He was immovable, refusing to listen to anything she said.
Josh quickly took back the phone and reassured Jasmine. “Don’t take it to heart. He’s just overwhelmed. He hasn’t faced anything like this before, so it’s understandable that he’s struggling. If you take him seriously, you’ll only end up frustrated p>
Jasmine opened her mouth but found herself at a loss for words.
Zachary was usually mature and composed. Though his expression often appeared serious, he was skilled at managing people.
To her surprise, he was now keeping Serenity close and preventing her from returning.
“Zachary, how is Serenity doing p>
Josh asked, concern in his voice. “What did you do to her p>
“I—I didn’t do anything to her. She wanted to leave, so I locked the gate and tossed the keys away. When she tried to climb over the wall, I got rid of the ladder too. Then she got angry and locked herself in a room p>
“Josh, I don’t know what to do. You must be clearer-headed than I am right now. Please tell me, what should I do? My mind is a chaotic mix of panic and confusion p>
When Zachary fell in love, he fell deeply.
Serenity had become the most important woman in his life.
He couldn’t bear the thought of losing her.
The reason he had kept his feelings hidden until now was his fear of losing her.
Remy had advised him to choose a special day when Serenity was happy to confess his feelings in a unique way, which he had done.

After some contemplation, Josh advised, “Zachary, I think Jasmine has a point. Even though you and Serenity are a couple, you’ve only known each other for four months, while Jasmine has been close to her for over ten years. She understands Serenity better than you do.
“Follow her advice and let Serenity take some time to cool off. Let her talk with her sister and Jasmine; I believe they will encourage her to reconcile with you rather than to break up. Right, Jasmine p>
In her mind, Jasmine thought, ‘I won’t advise Seren. I’ll support whatever decision she makes. This is her life. Even as her best friend, I can’t make that call for her. She’ll figure it out after she calms down p>
Zachary continued, “I know I shouldn’t feel this way, but I can’t bear the thought of letting Seren go. Yes, our time together has been short, but I’m her husband, the one she shares a bed with. I know her temperament well.
“I’m convinced that if I let her go, she’ll leave me for good. She’ll quietly pack her bags and disappear from Wiltspoon, with her sister and friends aiding her escape p>
Josh paused before replying, “Zachary, you need to calm down too. Stop worrying about Serenity leaving. Focus on how to ease her anger and rebuild her trust in you p>
Irritated, Zachary replied, “I can’t calm down! I have no idea how to soothe her. It feels like she gets angrier no matter what I do. I even had to knock her unconscious to keep her here p>
Josh felt a surge of frustration towards his best friend.
