Serenity held the watering can in her right hand and raised it as she turned to look at him, demonstrating that she was using her right hand.
She had injured her left hand.
“It’s tiring to use only one hand. I instructed Mrs. Lane to take good care of these flowers, so you don’t need to worry about them,” she said.
Zachary took the watering can from her and insisted that she not water the flowers. He led her to the swing chair and gently pushed her down into the seat. “Here’s your favorite spot. Just relax and swing a bit. I’ll go inside and get you a coat p>
“I’m not cold,” she replied.
Despite her protest, Zachary went inside as if he hadn’t heard her. He returned with a jacket and attempted to put it on her, but she declined. Instead, he draped it over her legs to keep her warm while she sat on the swing chair.
“I’m going to cook now. Call me if you need anything, and please don’t touch the water,” he advised before heading back to the kitchen to prepare their dinner.
Serenity sat on the swing chair for a moment, then got up and entered the house. She quietly watched from the kitchen door as Zachary cooked.
