Zachary was unaware that his dedication to work had caused distress throughout the entire office. It was Monday, a week after he had taken time to cool off, and he invited Serenity out to start the new week.
After seven days of rest, Serenity’s hand injury had healed nicely, allowing her to drive again.
Zachary arranged to meet her in the presidential suite on the top floor of the Wiltspoon Hotel.
Serenity brought Sonny along with her.
She had taken him today because the renovation of Liberty’s restaurant was nearing completion. Given that Liberty would be busy in the coming days, she couldn’t look after Sonny, so the responsibility fell to Serenity.

At the hotel entrance, Jim and his colleague observed as Serenity carried Sonny from the car. Jim approached her and greeted her respectfully.

“Mr. Zachary is waiting for you on the top floor. Please follow us p>
Remaining courteous, Jim and his colleague guided Serenity into the hotel.
A few minutes later, Serenity entered the impressive presidential suite with Sonny in her arms.
Zachary stood with his back to the door, gazing out the window. The room reeked of cigarette smoke.
Though he rarely smoked, Zachary had indulged in multiple packs.
Serenity noticed the ashtray overflowing with cigarette butts on the coffee table, along with a thick yellow envelope, the contents of which were unknown.
It had been a week since they last saw each other.
Serenity had managed to compose herself by now.

Sonny was the first to break the silence.
His voice prompted Zachary to turn around, as he quickly extinguished the cigarette in his hand.
He was aware of Serenity’s presence in the room.
The only reason Zachary didn’t turn around was that he was smoking. He didn’t want her to see him smoke because she disapproved of smokers.
It never crossed his mind that Serenity was with Sonny.
Zachary wanted to protect the little guy from second-hand smoke.
As he approached, Zachary removed the ashtray from the coffee table and placed it far away. He opened the door to let fresh air in and eliminate the smell of cigarettes.
Serenity observed his actions.
“I-I was bored and took a few puffs. I’ll quit smoking if you don’t like it,” Zachary explained as he moved forward to take Sonny from Serenity’s arms. Weighing the boy in his hands, he remarked, “Sonny has gotten a bit heavier p>
“Please sit down, Seren,” Zachary urged his wife.
Serenity took a seat.
“I’ll pour you a drink,” Zachary said.
He placed Sonny down and poured drinks for his guests, also retrieving some snacks for Sonny.
He then sat next to Sonny.
Zachary gazed at Serenity for a moment before picking up the yellow envelope from the coffee table. He handed it to her and said, “This is for you, Seren p>
“What’s this? Divorce papers?” she asked.
Zachary replied, “Dream on p>
Serenity pursed her lips, took the envelope, and responded, “I thought you had changed your mind p>
She opened the envelope and pulled out the papers, quickly realizing their contents.
Zachary said gently, “I’m giving you my assets so you won’t feel overwhelmed. I agree to sign an agreement, but my only condition is that we don’t divorce p>
