Duncan leaned down to ruffle Sonny’s hair before saying goodbye to Grandma May. As the old woman hummed in response, he quickly departed.
Grandma May watched him drive off and turned her attention to Liberty, who was back at the register. Liberty had a small book and a calculator in front of her, tallying the expenses for the store and its renovations.

Liberty had no interest in Duncan.
Nonetheless, she hesitantly asked Liberty, “What are your plans for the future p>
“I hope All You Can Eat can open branches across the country,” Liberty replied.
“Business is important, but what about your personal life? You’re only thirty-one—so young! Have you thought about it? I meant what I said before: if you’re open to it, I can introduce you to a dedicated and capable young man p>
“I assure you, your second marriage will be better than your first. You’ll live a hundred times better than with your ex-husband. Let him regret it p>
Liberty chuckled. “Nana, you have nine grandsons. Aside from the oldest and youngest, the other seven are of marriageable age, yet they’re all still single. Isn’t that enough to worry about p>
Grandma May pulled Sonny onto her lap.
She laughed and said, “I’m old now and can’t do much else. My grandsons take care of me and won’t let me work, so I’ve taken up matchmaking out of boredom. Just this morning, I showed Callum and Kevin two photos and told them to pursue their wives based on the goals I set for them. They should be able to shed their bachelor status within a year p>
“I’m not particularly worried about my grandsons under twenty-five. Only the first six are over
“Twenty-five, and the younger three are still quite young. There’s no need for concern. Men mature later and are not as precocious as women. They can only support a small family when they marry at an older age p>
“If a man marries too young, he may still have a childlike heart and may not be capable of raising a family p>
“My sixth grandson will be turning twenty-five this year, but I’m not in a hurry for him either. Once Callum and Kevin are settled, I’ll focus on my fourth and fifth grandsons. When I find a suitable candidate, I’ll bring their photos to them so they can complete their task p>
“In a year’s time, I’ll have arranged marriages for four grandsons p>
Liberty was taken aback.
At that pace, even if Grandma May had a hundred grandchildren, she would be able to see them all married off quickly.
“Mr. Young–Johnson has also asked Zack for my help in finding a wife for his brother. I’ve met Remy before; he’s a very good man. So now, I’m looking for a suitable match for him p>
“Grandma May, I’m divorced and a single mother. I don’t plan to remarry for now p>
“Don’t worry. I won’t introduce you to Remy; he lives too far away. Seren wouldn’t want you to marry someone so distant p>
Liberty was left speechless.
“I’m telling you this because I want you to understand that I can truly help you find a partner. You’ll be happier in your second marriage p>
Liberty politely declined. “Grandma May, I’m not ready to think about love right now. I’ve known Hank for over ten years, yet we divorced after less than four years of marriage and nearly became enemies. That experience has been enough of a torment for me.
“What did marriage bring me? The only good thing I got from that union was Sonny p>
“I have to consider Sonny too. His biological father already neglects him, and I can’t imagine adding a stepfather into the mix p>
“What I want now is to raise Sonny well. I don’t need anything else,” she said. Grandma May was quiet for a moment before replying, “Then let nature take its course. There are stepmothers and stepfathers who can truly give their hearts and souls to their stepchildren.” However, they were in the minority. Duncan was the fourth young master of the Lewis family. Mrs. Lewis had high standards and consistently matched Duncan with ladies from families that met their status.
