As she descended to the first floor, Serenity walked cautiously, concerned that the floor might be slippery.
Clive and Alice had just returned from outside. Alice, who was pregnant, had gone back to her family home for dinner, and Clive had picked her up after work.
The couple was surprised to see Serenity’s careful demeanor.
“What’s the matter, Seren? Are your legs bothering you?” Alice asked, approaching with concern.
Elisa chuckled. “Look at her shoes, Alice. She’s not accustomed to wearing high heels, so Mom advised her to practice walking in them outside for a bit, so she can walk more comfortably before we leave p>
Alice observed the stilettos Serenity was wearing and then looked at her face. She patted Serenity’s shoulder and said, “It might be tough, but if you think of Mr. York, you can overcome anything p>
Serenity had a long journey ahead. If she wanted to integrate into Zachary’s social circle, she needed to put in the effort.
Clive approached and glanced at his cousin’s legs but chose not to comment.
“I’ll go outside to practice walking,” Serenity announced.
“Go ahead, but be careful. You’re still in your gown, so avoid staining it,” Alice reminded her with a smile, concerned about Serenity slipping and falling.
Serenity proceeded with even greater caution.
Elisa accompanied her outside.
As Serenity gradually adjusted to the high heels, Elisa recorded a video and sent it to Zachary.
After discovering that Serenity was Audrey’s niece, Zachary quietly removed Elisa from his blacklist. While Serenity was sleeping, he took the opportunity to check social media and stopped blocking her posts from Elisa.
Now, Zachary was able to receive the video that Elisa sent him.
“You will never let her down or lie to her for the rest of your lives,” Zachary stated.
“All my love belongs solely to Serenity,” he added.
Elisa smiled and said, “No one is asking you to walk in those heels p>
Serenity glanced at her aunt’s face before slipping on the stilettos. Taking Elisa’s hand, she stood up and took a few cautious steps, feeling the urge to kick the heels off.
Oh, how she missed her comfortable house loafers.
“Make sure to wear these heels down the stairs and walk a few laps on the front lawn. We can leave when you’re comfortable,” Elisa encouraged.
Audrey had been so focused on choosing outfits and shoes for Serenity the other day that she forgot to let her practice in the heels.
Serenity quietly stuck her tongue out, but without defying Aunt Audrey, she carefully strutted out of the room.
“I’ll go with Seren, Mom,” Elisa offered, taking pity on her cousin.
Once they were outside the room, Elisa shot Serenity a sympathetic look as the latter gripped the banister for support. “You wanted this. You could have asked anyone for help, but you chose my mother. She’s all about etiquette—she could probably work for the Queen. If you mess up, she’ll likely tell you to start over p>
Serenity was at a loss for words.
Who else could she turn to but Aunt Audrey?
If she had gone with Zachary, he would have spoiled her and accepted her leaving the house in her loafers.
“It’s still hours before the event, so you have time to practice,” Elisa added cheerfully. “I’ll be here with you p>
